I came here on my birthday with friends and family only to find that there’s no elevator we had to hustle our bags up the stairs to our room it was on the 2nd floor. when we got off the trolley at the resort, we were not greeted in a friendly manner, and I was really expecting a delicious rum punch That did not happen. The front desk receptionist was very snide and rude as she told us to hurry to the buffet, because his first come first serve. When we get to the buffet, it was very disgusting, sour fruit, and food, and one case in another case you had flies buzzing all around the food, which was cold & dried it was just bad. Now they have a larger buffet the food was a little better. The service was bad. It took forever to get something to drink most of the time you were finish your food before your beverage came back. We were also told it was a two day before we could make a reservation for the fancy restaurants, and when I attempted to make reservations, they were all booked up not to mention we were leaving on the fourth day. I spent quite a while, practically begging the supervisor at the buffet for my niece to come over from RIU Reggae because I came on the trip for my birthday and wanted to have kind of a big deal with my family and friends. Staff at the hotel assured us that my niece could come over and have dinner. We just could not visit the other hotel the following night, my nieces walked from one hotel to where we were staying only to be kicked out of the restaurant and told she was not allowed to come Over for dinner , She could probably get a pass from someone name, James, who should be in the lobby. Now I get up from the table and go to the lobby with my niece looking for James no one in the entire hotel new James. I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone in charge. Long story short we were in the lobby for about 33 minutes before we spoke with the general manager And he said oh yeah, I can write them a guest pass. I was informed at the lady named Debbie that Told me and my niece about coming over for dinner did not have the authority to tell us that. I called down to the front desk to have my refrigerator stopped with only water three hours later someone comes and knocks on my door before I can answer the door. My door is being opened, The man asked me did I request water? I told him yes he says OK I’ll be right back and never came back when I called the front desk as usual we played the run around. Said he had to check in the bar for water. I asked them what was the purpose of coming up empty hand only to leave and never return, the front desk check and see . The room was pretty clean. The food from the buffet was fair the resort grounds were fair. I would never recommend this resort to anyone nor would I ever ever return. They have no hospitality at all.!!!!

The property and grounds were very clean. The entertainment staff were excellent and engaging. I loved that there was ample seating for the shows which were great! The waterslide park was a hit too! The only negative i have is that our toilet clogged multiple times. The last time we called reception about it we came back to freshly made beds and our toilet was still clogged, but it was remedied rather quickly after that.

Where do I start?! There wasn’t a shuttle to/from the airport, so my group booked a round trip shuttle through viator. When we got to the resort, it was HOT as h*ll in the lobby, no air conditioning at all and flies everywhere (because it’s just open to the outside). We were offered any real drinks at the entrance, which isn’t the norm at an all inclusive resort. The check in process took about an, because the line was ridiculously long, and there were only two or three people at the counter. Our rooms were ok. Just ok. The air was on (thank goodness)! But there was no elevator in the “villa” so the poor guy had to lug out bags up to the 2nd floor and he was sweating terribly and even stopped to asked for a bottle of water from our friend’s room after bringing up their bags 🥴. Not to mention the constant hike up and down the stairs, like you weren’t eating & drinking all day, and it wasn’t hot. (Also why no one wanted to get our bags when we were checking out! Took an hour! 🙄) Some other things that rubbed us the wrong way… A. we were sitting down for a quick snack outside, and some girls from the pool came up to us talking about the all white party. We laughed about something and someone from the buffet dining hall (Trevor?) came and SHUSHED us. 1) We’re grown as hell. 2) We’re sitting outside where it’s music and a thousand other loud ass people, so 10 seconds of laughter shouldn’t have even been addressed! It was rude and unnecessary! B. Pools close at 6? Restaurants close at 10? No room service? No elevators (in some/most villas). Making restaurant reservations on the RIU app was dang near impossible. Running out of mimosas before breakfast was even over (on multiple days). I’ve been to Jamaica before and I stayed at the Hyatt Ziva resort and it was great! So I’m not being “nit-picky”, the Riu Montego Bay just missed the mark in multiple ways.

Just back from a 10 night stay at this hotel. On arrival we were told we had had a complimentary room upgrade, omg, what a view over the beach, fantastic!!! The room was a little dated but it was clean and comfortable. There was a great mini bar with optics with branded drinks, the fridge was supposed to be restocked every two days, however, I had to contact reception when this wasn’t done twice, but they sorted it straight away. There is a choice of pools from rowdy party pool to quieter more relaxed, but you can still hear the music from the lively pool and party boat, this didn’t bother us at all, until a large American group arrived, monopolised the less rowdy pool and brought a loud speaker blasting out country and western music 🤷‍♀️, who wants that when you’re in Jamaica the land of beautiful reggae!!! Also no fighting for sun loungers, bliss!!! Food was lovely, something for every taste. Steak house was delicious! We spent a lot of time on the gorgeous beach, the men on the little boats selling bits are so friendly and they don’t hassle you, if you don’t want to buy that’s fine. Entertainment was great, animation team were friendly and spoke to and welcomed everybody. Fab hotel for adults, but if you want total peace and relaxation then I’d look elsewhere! Also very close to the airport and a lot of planes fly over during the day. We enjoyed 😁🏖✈️
