Beautiful hotel minutes from Monteverde biological preserve. The hot tubs were out of service the day we were there which was a disappointment because it was cold and rainy. But we passed our time at the bar instead and David behind the bar was great!

Great hotel with everyone working their with I can help you attitude which is a plus for hotel industry. Even though it seems like there are not much tenant staying here, but all staff are still very helpful and assist the possible best they can, we had front desk brought us 2 umbrellas due to rain, within 5 minutes, a gentleman from the front desk walked to our room with two umbrellas, restaurant was empty, just us in the restaurant, but again, server was very helpful. We wanted to go to town center, but it will require local taxi which charges around 5 times more than uber, problem is, there is no uber in monteverde. We then went to the hotel bar to grab a drink and landed in happy hour. Bar tender helping us was so kind, a couple of hours later, we went back to have dinner at the bar after our happy hour. Very charming place that has its own trail if you want to walk. Very updated room and bathroom, clean and quiet.

The property is beautiful and well kept with a nice walking trail that circles the perimeter.
Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Pool was fabulous and a nice break after touring all day.

Excellent property with nice pool. Good pool with warm water and kids had a great time. Loved the sunset at this property.

Terrible breakfast, a hotel totally free of charm or atmosphere- The Shining in the rain forest. Miles from anywhere, you need to get an expensive taxi to nearest town or eat terrible food alone in a deserted hotel. If you want to avoid any contact with the local culture, food or atmosphere Fonda Vela is right for you

Our stay at Fondavela was great. The staffs are very friendly and nice. We should give 5 star for that. Our room was alright. We did see some bugs but given that it is surrounded by forest we can understand that. The restaurant on property was good. We played pool at the bar and relaxed.

Wonderful staff all around, from the front desk to the spa and restaurant. The grounds and room were beautiful. Located near Monteverde Cloud Forest, but just on the outskirts of Santa Elena - it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town and fall asleep to the sound of their beautiful fountain and nature sounds. The stretch of road leading to the hotel isn't paved so having high clearance helps. The hot tubs were out of service during our stay, unfortunately, but the staff offered the Jacuzzi in their spa as a solution, which I very much appreciated (but we ended up not doing this as it needed advance notice for them to get it ready). Thank you for a wonderful stay! Will definitely plan to come back next time we're in the area!

The location is lovely. The swimming pool was great. Our room however was dark and dingy even with the curtains open. There was no privacy so we had to draw the curtains even in daylight. The room was large. The bathroom was very small. The shower doors were difficult to close and the hot tap came off in my hand which left very hot water coming out of the wall. This was fixed. The food was excellent quality and the waiting staff were very good. At breakfast they ran out of bananas both days I the land that grows them! We stayed in several hotels in Costa Rica and this was probably one of the best.

This was our third stop on our trip to Costa Rica and what a lovely hotel. The staff here from reception to the bar including house staff were exceptional and friendly and great at giving you their time. The accommodation was sufficient even though a bit dated but was perfect for our stay.
