"Amazing tree house lodging on the edge of Monteverde! Beautiful, half mile walk into town along the main road. Wildlife, birds and monkeys visited us at the cabin. We watched fireflies at night from the covered hot tub on the porch. The owners were excellent at communicating, prompt with breakfast delivery and helped us arrange for transportation and reservations for nearby reserve tours and an overnight trip to La Fortuna to take a cooking class with a local Costa Rican family, see sloths and red eye tree frogs, and take a dip in the hot springs. We can’t recommend this lodging enough!!"

Mountain Faro Hotel

"We stayed at Mountain faro for two nights. On arrival, we were greeted warmly and was advised of the possible tours in the area. The room was clean and comfortable and has a great shower. The hotel kindly arranged our visit to the butterfly garden and our transport to the cloud forest. Breakfast was enough, and there was a pot of coffee and chilled juice both mornings. Because we visited the cloud forest our final morning and it was wet we asked if it may be possible to keep the room a little longer to shower and warm up on our return and this wasn't a problem at all. Three restaurants and a small store close by, a slight steep hill to the property, but this is the whole of monteverde! "

"Absolutely beautiful property, and the service is wonderful. Cabins are separated from one another enough to provide privacy. The breakfasts are delicious. The transportation team El Sol works with is great, too - all of my drivers were prompt, safe, and friendly. A little pricier than I normally choose, but well worth the splurge. I would stay there again in a heartbeat."

"Wow! This place is adorable! Flowers and birds everywhere. Miguel, Luis and Jose are so friendly and helpful. We really felt like family as soon as we met them. The breakfast is great and it was fun to watch the birds, even toucanets at the feeders. You can walk to stores and many restaurants, even a couple of nice parks. We’ll be back."

"I stayed here for two nights with a tour group, and found it to be perfectly adequate. While it's an older building, it seemed to be fairly maintained. I was a little perplexed by the shower water heater, but thankfully I was able to get it decently warm. There aren't many amenities here, so don't expect a full-service hotel. They do offer a simple breakfast for US $8. Location-wise, it's about a five-minute walk into the center of Santa Elena. Overall, it's a fine place for a few nights."

"Hotel was a nice and clean place where they equipped with telescope, soaps etc. and all kinds of helpful kits. However when the hotel called local taxi for me the driver charged me doubled price vs. As it should be. Cannot say it’s hotel’s fault but the service experience is not great from that beginning. Loved owner’s attention to details at home but service can be better"
