The hotel is very comfortable and spacious. The staff is super friendly (cristans in reception, Fernando and Pamela in Figaro (restaurant) and forgive I have not the name of the rest!! all toto are super friendly! . breakfast is soft but rich and fresh, and it has everything fundamental. I regularly visit Montevideo for academic business and Mercure Punta Carretas turned out to be the best accommodation I ever had in the Uruguayan capital. The location almost directly on the shore of the Rio de la Plata is very pleasant, there is a sea food restaurant open until late. The rooms of the Mercure are OK (nothing fancy but there is everything one needs), yet the quality of the stay is nonetheless outstanding. The breakfast buffet is delicious (homemade granola among other), there is a co-working space and a gym on the top floor. The gym is tiny, there is a complete set of dumbbells, a stationary bike and a yoga mat, all of quality but that's it. However, this is enough to throw in a good session while the view on the Plata is breathtaking. Last but not least, cheers to the friendly, helpful and absolutely trustworthy staff! Highly recommended.

The price is not worth it. - well located. - window does not open - got through the windows. - wind through the window rubbers. - windows do not swallow the sound - breakfast is simple and repeating - bath floor is free - box with bathroom for people with low size - breakfast schedule system does not work and does not have control - few staff to deal with the Breakfast - missing information number of reception - TV is not smart, i.e. does not have YouTube - wifi is very weak for anyone who wants to work - well equipped room - well-friendly rooms I recommend, but the price does not match what it delivers. There is a lot of maintenance.

Awful service - this hotel is not worthy of even 1 star. Their staff are not trained properly and ruined our stay in Montevideo, don’t waste your money here there are plenty of better and cheaper hotels available. 1) The hotel lost our booking and blamed it on us, making us wait 30 mins at reception at 10pm at night for our room 2) The window in our room was broken, we informed them in the morning and when we came back to the hotel that evening we were informed we couldn’t open the window and it was slightly fixed but they would fix it tomorrow (no offer of compensation or apology) 3. The reception staff repeatedly ignored our phone calls when we were trying to clarify the room bill (I called at 15 min intervals for 1 hour so it was obvious they weren’t picking up our room) - never in all the hotels I have stayed at around the world have reception staff repeatedly ignored a room call, it is the worst service possible 4. They tried to charge us more than was originally agreed for our room at checkout and nearly made us miss our flight I have stayed in hotels all across South America and this was the worst service I have ever received - do yourself a favour and save the headache of the poorly trained staff and book another hotel.

We had no problems with the hotel, its location or cleanliness. However, we were double charged for our room back in March 2022 and 7 months later have still not received a refund. Upon check in the girl charged our credit card the incorrect amount for our booking. When I pointed out the error, she recharged my credit card in the correct amount and said she would issue a credit once she asked someone who knew how to process it. Shortly after we were issued a credit and given the appropriate slips indicating the 2 charges and the credit charges to my card. When we arrived home I noticed 2 charges from the hotel on my credit card statement but no credit. For some reason the credit has never processed to my credit card. Up on closer inspection of the credit slip I noticed it says INCORRECTO at the bottom and therefore never got processed. I have sent numerous emails trying contact someone at the hotel since this booking trying to get my $463.50 USD refund; and no one will return my emails or my phone calls. I even had the booking agency contact the hotel (***********) and they still will not correct this matter. This is not a big hotel (it has 21 rooms) and at the time of our stay it had very few bookings so reconciling this matter should not be a problem. I wonder if they make a practice of doing this type of thing??

We stayed here for one night in mid-January and found it to be a wonderful location, right in the heart of the old city. We were walking distance to the port, areas of the old town, and many attractions and plazas. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer questions in English, recommending restaurants and sights to see. They were also happy to hold our luggage for us the day we checked out until our afternoon departure. Each room is apparently unique, and ours was beautiful, with a comfortable bed and an obviously updated bathroom with modern fittings and conveniences. Our room was on the first floor (one above ground level) and we did hear some road noise in the morning as the city started walking, so if you're concerned about noise you may want to request a higher floor. Breakfast was included in our stay and had very good options, both hot and cold.

Apart from being a great location close to departmental transport and the hotel including the rooms are very clean the staff are extremely friendly and courteous plus they go out of they way to help - This is are second time stying in the hotel and we would highly recommend it

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel together with our 2 kids. We expected it to be a business hotel with comfort and some luxury. At least cleanliness. Well it wasn’t. It might be a 4 star hotel for Uruguayan standards, but for the rest of the world its more like a 2 star old fashioned 60s hotel. We had a family room (2 bedroom) on the 7th floor. Already exiting the elevator we knew what we could expect. Floors with old carpet and full with nasty stains. The entire floor smells old and a bit like old sigaret smoke. Pretty nasty actually. The room itself is similar. Old floor with broken tiles and edges. Really sober and uninviting room, no decorations whatsoever. No ceiling lights. Old furnishings. No curtains just a screen. A big disappointment actually. Gym wasn’t available. We took a look but I wouldt even dare using those old machines actually. Certainly when you consider the price per night this place just isnt worth it. So after a night we expected a breakfast with some sort of business standard. But also the breakfast is a big disappointment and actually pretty tasteless. I dont know what they add to the scrambled egg, but smells weird. Fruits are out of date and nasty. Dry bread. Cold scrambled egg. And due to covid it is not allowed to get to the food yourself. One (sometimes 2) person is helping everyone in the hotel, so that didnt really work out. On day 3 all of the sudden our cards to enter the room didn’t work anymore, ofcourse solved at the reception but still annoying and strange. Well at least the free wifi worked well here. Overall I would recommend to book a different place with a higher standard, NH is a bit of disappointment considering the price per night.
