September was a perfect month for trips into the bush to see a wide range of animals, from the big five to the smallest birds. The lack of foliage made viewing much easier. Kapama River Lodge is a lovely facility and the staff, rooms and food were great. But the highlight is driving all around the reserve to see animals, every morning and late afternoon. Our guides were Marcus at the wheel and Bright in the spotter's chair, both of whom helped us understand what we were seeing, how to see it better, and the regional culture. Kudos to both. A major highlight - having a leopard saunter across the road in front of us, settle onto a fallen tree in full view, and yawn like it didn't have a care!

We were pleased with the hotel, the staff was responsive. Excellent breakfast with a large selection of dishes, everything was very tasty. There is a swimming pool and sun loungers on the territory, but unfortunately we did not use them, as it was not very hot.
