I spent 9 days at the Pepperclub hotel for a solo trip and would definitely consider staying there again if I ever return to Cape Town. While the hotel is no near to be a 5 stars hotel as it claims to be, for the price I paid I consider it to be a bargain for what it has to offer. The room was very spacious and comfortable, and kept tidy by house keeping. I probably didn’t need half of the room size but it was perfect, the view to table mountain is breathtaking!(room 1520) Breakfast had lots of options and good coffee, I did however, opted for the a la carte options during my stay as they were more appealing. There is also a very good bakery close to reception, delicious pastries and good coffee. The restaurant staff is incredible, special mention to Mandla and Khaya! The service was exceptional by every single staff member I came across, very polite, accommodating and genuinely concerned on providing a great experience to guests. I felt truly looked after. (6 stars service) The shuttle van service is very convenient and was utilised by me on a daily basis. Really handy and efficient! The Gym was dated but more than I expected for a hotel gym, you can comfortably do a full workout there and the view to table mountain is really cool. The noise from Long street is a real problem, and I think there’s nothing the Hotel can do about it. I read some answers by the hotel saying the windows are double glazed, if they really are - its not working. I had to sleep every day with the AC on to balance the noise from outside and managed to sleep like a baby. I did ask for a high floor room and that was promptly arranged, but again, without the AC noise I would probably not have been able to sleep. Overall, I think the hotel just needs a massive renovation, I believed it could have been a 5 starts maybe 10/ 15 years ago but now feels a bit “tired”. Some examples to support my argument: -The bed headboard in my room was worn off; -Gym has some rusty and near faulty equipments, there are signs asking guests to sanitise the equipments after using them but there’s only hand sanitiser, I raised that and staff confirmed there was only that sanitiser and sent a cleaner to wipe everything; -Sauna has cracked wood boards; -There’s no sunlight at the Spa Pool(at least during May when I stayed there) - the photos they advertise are from the roof top pool at the Presidential Suite which you wont have access; -When I entered my room first it had a strong cleaning products smell, instead of something softer and pleasant; -Corridor’s floor and ceiling are dated loose ceiling boards and dark a**osphere. All of the “negative” observations I outlined didn’t impact my very positive and pleasant experience at the hotel and I would definitely encourage anyone to give it a go, just make sure you get a high floor room to avoid the excessive noise and you are good. Hope to see you all again in the future!
