Courtyard Muncie at Horizon Convention Center

Hotel built in 16. Has wear and tear of a normal college town hotel but was very clean. This also has a school for the developmentally disabled and was built by a group in support of this. Restaurant and bar were beyond great and all staff were giddy, helpful and kind. We were there to also tour the school which is the first of its kind in the U.S. Drove almost 9 hours to get here and would do it again. I travel very often and would always rate this a 4-5.

Overall, a comfortable stay. The first floor is under renovation (at least the hallways) but there was no noise or dust in our 2nd floor room. There is a ‘make shift’ check in desk; front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. This is an older hotel and the rooms show it a bit; the carpet was wrinkled up in front of the credenza (a bit of a tripping hazard), but overall it was clean. The heat cycles rather loudly and the thermostat seemed to mean nothing—it was as hot set at 68 as it was at 72; we just turned it off and it was comfortable enough for sleeping despite snow, wind and single digit temps outside. There was no backup roll of toilet paper; we ran out of that the first evening and went downstairs to get more. Same with the tissues. There were sufficient towels for the two of us and we left our room number the morning of the second day to have towel and trash service. When we got back to the room around 5:30pm, that had been done (and more TP left). The room had a desk but no office-type desk chair; just a straight chair that was both uncomfortable and wobbly. The only other glitch was the hair dryer—it was the wall-mount type, but it was just lying on the vanity counter. When I went to use it, it wouldn’t work—no matter where I plugged it in. So, back down to the front desk to ask for a hair dryer. The morning desk person said “I hope I have a spare.” Thankfully, he did. So…overall, I would stay here again, BUT I would check my room right away for sufficient supplies and a working hair dryer.

This hotel has poor facilities, no elevators, and the suitcase has to go to the second floor. Breakfast is very poor, nothing can eat, wifi signal is very bad, often there is no signal on the network, the environment is still quiet. The price is cheap so you can't ask too much. The mattress is very thick and it is quite comfortable to sleep. There is still a problem, the quality of toiletries is relatively poor.

We needed to come to Muncie for a funeral so I was researching hotels in the area and the reviews here were better than most plus Choice Hotels had a 20% off special so we decided to stay here. I have some dexterity issues so sometimes typing is hard especially on a cell phone and i was having issues reserving the room online so I called the hotel directly to book but the wouldn't help me so that I could get the fall special rate. Fortunately the main Choice Hotels rep was more understanding and made the reservation for me. The room was clean enough, no bugs, no hair from previous guests. I went to use the room's lotion (left mine at home) and discovered it was leftover from a previous guest because there was nothing left in the tiny bottle. Now here is the reallt negative part of our stay; my husband gets out of the shower and the fire alarm starts going off in our room. We try for 30 minutes to get it to shut off to no avail. My husband finally calls the front desk about it. About 10 or 15 minutes later the maintenance tech arrives and he can't get it to shut off either. While he's there we are rushing to pack up and get the heck out of there. About 20 minutes later he finally got the alarm to shut off. I got a major headache from it that we didn't even stay for the breakfast so I could go buy some Aleve.

The hotel is clean, comfortable beds. The new remote control heat/ac units are awesome!! Can adjust the level from bed, no need to get up and lower or raise the temperature! The motion detector light in the bathroom was awesome as well. Not sure what happened to the waffle maker for the breakfast area but it was missing, so i did miss having a waffle. They had cereal and toast, but i just got coffee and ate the pastries we bought at Meijer. Staff is friendly and accommodated our request for a late checkout.
