Friendly and competent reception. Early check-in was problem-free. Great room upgrade to a wonderful suite thanks to AMERICAN EXPRESS. The rooms are unique and very stylish. We like that a lot. We found the many chairs and tables in the corridors on the 6th floor (we had room 690) annoying. It has a train station feel to it. It is a mystery why the TV did not work at any time during our entire stay. That cannot really be the case in a luxury hotel. Falk's Bar was top-notch as always. Undisputedly one of the most beautiful hotel bars in Germany with very friendly staff. Blue Spa was absolutely fine, although like the other guests we found the room temperature by the pool to be much too cold. A very small fire flickered in the fireplace for 2 hours, but it was not relit at 4 p.m. The breakfast, on the other hand, is 4 stars max. Salami and sausage with the edges curling up (at 9.15 a.m.); Soft cheese that is rock hard and dry when cut, roast beef that couldn't have been greyer or more well done. And then the white sausages were lukewarm at best. And all this in the middle of Munich. That's unacceptable. The breakfast does not match the quality or selection of a Leading Hotel of the World. Perhaps the F&B manager should be sent on a reconnaissance tour to the Adlon in Berlin with the head chef. That's some breakfast! We told the young man at the door that we weren't happy with the breakfast when we left the restaurant. He promised to look into it. When we checked out, our mention of the breakfast was cleverly ignored, despite asking. We also had to point out the €90 deduction for AMEX guests. Will we come back? Yes, we'd love to. But something needs to be done about the service. In some areas, it has nothing to do with luxury hotels.
