Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort

My family and I absolutely loved this hotel would recommend 10 outta 10 needs more amenities but nevertheless was absolutely great!!

The hotel was fine but just fine, the bedroom was clean but the kitchen area in the room looked a little gross and at night there is a pizza place/club at night that makes to much noise that you hear it from your bedroom. The view of the ocean was nice and the bed was clean but the overall experience was only fine not great and they make you wear a yellow wrist band on property at all times like if you were in a hospital. Not a great look. Ghetto guests that would stay on the property would make a lot of noises in the hallways as well. Myrtle Beach was OK but it feels like it’s a dying city. At least where I stayed.

The rooms were recently updated which was nice and what attracted me to this resort; however, the bathroom was not up to par. The shower floor was dirty and the soap holder had been ripped off the shower wall at one point and caulked backed on. We rented an ocean front room but the bars on the balcony were taller than me and I’m 5’7. Obstructed our view and made us feel like we were in jail. Definitely not worth the money I paid to have an ocean front room. The resort also advertised breakfast available for purchase but when you ask where the breakfast area is they inform you breakfast is only available if you book a 90 min tour for time shares. No thanks! There was a friendly’s restaurant across the road that served breakfast but they were also there trying to get you to purchase a time share for our resort. The staff we nice and welcoming. The location was mediocre. I will most likely not stay at this resort again.

Only one stool in room to sit on with no back. Bed was so high that I had to lay a roll on to the bed.

Update: Much like now, silence and irresponsibility has been my experience with Westgate. When they do respond they refuse to answer or even address why I contacted them in the first place and chooses to re-explain my contract to me as if it’s any excuse for allowing their personnel to commit legal crimes and fraud. The last time I posted my complaint, I explained how their sales staff had forged my signature on important documents, which ironically, happen to be the same documents they loom over my head and claim is what prevents them from canceling my contract. If I were a business owner responsible for my employees, I would consider this a very serious allegation and would look into it ASAP. Since this complaint was posted, they have made no attempt to call me, to respond (as you can see), to email me, or send me anything in the mail. They have my contact information and refuse to correspond or again, acknowledge my concerns. Ladies and gentlemen, you can now see for yourselves, the kind of experience and managerial attention you can hope to receive if you contact them for understanding and help. Absolutely nothing. My stay was amazing. The only problem I had was that I was overcharged because I’m supposed to get a North Carolina resident discount and never received it. I will be trying to call the office but that is the only issue it was a wonderful stay and I will stay again, but I just need to make sure the price is the same thru out. The charges are correct thank you. We enjoyed our stay at west gate!

The hotel is nice, modern looking, good beds and showers. There are a couple things that are a big problem for my family, one is the fact that they do not have food at all. You have to go outside of the hotel for all your meals, even for breakfast. We had to cross a busy street with two kids to get to a friendly’s for breakfast. It did not even had e a restaurant to do delivery to our room. Very inconvenient. Having to go out to get food was a burden and I would not recommend that hotel until they offer at least breakfast. The second down side of it is the fact that they do not offer service for the rooms. We had to ask them to remove our trash a few days and ask to bring towels. It is ok to save money by not cleaning everyday or changing towels, but we had to eat a few times in the room and hang clothes to dry and after two days our room smelled terrible. We ask them to remove our dirty towels and give us new ones and they simply threw new towels in the room without collecting the dirty ones. Again, we did not ask for service, just the minimum and they did not do even that. When I asked for the trash to be collected, that told me to put it in the corridor. Seriously, that is unacceptable.if I did not want to have that smell around us why would I place it in the corridor? They could simply say yes and send someone to collect it. This management needs to train people to give customers an answer that will make them feel that whatever they asked will be resolved. The kindest staff we interacted with was Cheyenne, she deserves my compliment.

Pretty good overall. Only concern is the rate was considerably higher than comparable places, and for that higher price no breakfast included. I would have thought the $19.99 resort fee would have at last included that, but it wasn’t. Not the greatest value. Bed was super comfy though.

Wil the maintenance guy was NOTHING less than amazing! He was very polite & helpful. To be honest he was the friendliest maintenance guy I've ever interacted with. He was very professional & respectful. He fixed our issue fast & had outstanding manners! WE APPRECIATE YOU WIL!! Never stop being the person you are!!
