Keiths Riverside Cottages

So We ended up dnt know how on this property while searching for a quite place to visit and I am sooo glad that We did. By the pictures We cud make out that this is the kind of place we were looking bt believe me the pics arent even half of the the actual beauty that this property holds. Far from the maddening crowds thronging hill stations we drove till Padampuri (Distt Mukteshwar) trekked upto Keith's riverside cottages in Boranshi ,located in a quiet valley. It is an untamed jungle abounding with pine, oak and numerous trees ,birds and fruits,namely plums and apples. Not a soul in sight except the two helping hands ,tending to the kitchen and preparing sumptuous meals ,snacks ***** with drinks galore. Rooms were big enough to accommodate a big family like ours…. Washrooms are normal but cant complain as they are in middle of a valley and you cant expect 5 star like facilities nor one should….The four nights and three days stay was marked with absolute peace and tranquility. The feather in the cap was the river flowing bang opposite our cottages where you could spend the entire mornings bathing in the fresh waters. We trekked to an orchid and a beautiful waterfall, which were exhausting but mesmerizing. Time flew so fast and we never realised that it was time to leave . An unforgettable experience .

This property is a hidden gem in the mountains surrounded by thick forest and kalsa river running besides it. It is around 23 kms from Bhimtal ( 45-50 min drive). The vehicle needs to be parked on the road and thereafter there is a trek/walk of around 15 minutes (800 mts approx) to reach the property. The parking is absolutely safe and the caretaker/someone from the staff will be there to receive you from the parking spot and carry your luggage. The 15 minutes trek/walk is wonderful/rejuvenating. As soon as you reach the property, all your travel fatigue vanishes in seconds. The location is offbeat, marvelous, pristine, admist thick lush green forest and mountains and surrounded by river on two sides. The only sound you hear is of the birds and water from the river. In June there is less water in the river and it is more like a stream but seeing the riverbed, one can easily say that it turns into a proper river during/after monsoons. There are three independent aesthetically designed, well furnished cottages in the property and a common dining room/area. The property is well maintained and has fruit trees and different varieties of flowers. The food is awesome. The caretaker Mr. Vijay is a wonderful cook and he prepares delicious food (both veg & non-veg) and I am sure he will give the well acclaimed chefs a run for their money. Bhalu Gaad waterfall is just 01 km from the parking spot. During the entire stay I felt like home. Weather was excellent. The owner, Mr. Sushant is prompt in responding to your queries. If someone is looking for serenety, a peaeful and refreshing holiday away from the city hustle bustle with clean air, a comfortable stay in the lap of nature with sumptuous food, then this place is highly recommended.

Imagine yourself surrounded by nature and its ingredient. You feel peace happiness and contentment . Everything was there during my trip to this place. I and my wife were on an unplanned trip to Mukteshwar in jan 2021 and luckily found this resort on google and decided to make it our hub for the next couple of days. The real thrill started as soon as we parked our car on the road(it's totally safe and usual practice in all Uttarakhand) and started trekking. It is an easy-moderate 500-700 meters( usually 15 minutes max) trek and consists of well-defined signs. You can call the caretaker who can help you with luggage/route ( try to carry as much as you can). En route, you can enjoy nature, a lot of kafal trees, gardens and a river. If you want to check the village culture there are few across the river. The resort has 3-4 cottages, a kitchen (used by the caretaker), a nearby river, a common room for dinner and indoor sports. Home-made food, thanks to caretaker Vijay. He cooks delicious food but you have to notify him in advance as it's a resort just in the middle of a jungle he has to arrange everything from market/nearby villages. In short, if you are a nature lover, want to enjoy urself and nature, this is for you!

Let's start with Pro's: Good trek experience to reach the property.. Awesome food, totally customisable.. full marks+1 to bar be que chicken. Other items were great as well. Vijay is an awesome cook and jeevan would never say no to anything, makes it exemplary at such a remote location.. but yes the guests need to be reasonable as well.. River just next to the property made it extra special, we had good time bathing and sitting dipped there. Wifi was strong, network is also not bad for airtel. Good spacious clean rooms and concept overall. Pricing is also on more pocket friendly side for this remote a property. Had a wonderful time.. Cons: Totally enclosed by valley and limited sky and panoramic view cos of plants, this could be a limiting factor post a stay of 3-4 days, however a personal choice. Housekeeping and cleaning of rooms need a serious look in, that's where I deducted a point in review. Feel one more staff for cleaning could have been useful. bed was comfortable though, bathroom was also above average. Outdoor seating needs to be better surely for those long hours of wfh or chilling sessions. Must experience property, much different than run of the mill elite homestays or hotels. Go surely if a small trek to reach here isn't a problem
