We were warmly welcomed to our spacious, comfortable Orion Suites, with a cozy fireplace and with wonderful attention to detail in the interior decoration! The views of the unique, peaceful semi-desert with grazing springbuck were picturesque! The great service, friendliness and warm hospitality of the staff was indeed overwhelming! The excellent cuisine was beautifully presented and worked wonderfully with their own locally produced wine! Another highlight was our informative field drive, including a visit to the two resident cheetahs and a spectacular fossil tour exploring an abundance of Permian fossils! What a magical place!! We loved every moment of our stay at Rogge Cloof and will definitely be back!!

The area is beautifull. The lodge itself is well maintained, clean, and very comfortable. Our host & guide Eben was excellent and went out of his way to make our stay pleasureable and gave an amazing stargazing experience.

Rogge Cloof! From its location, to its staff, to its customer service, it is a spectacular experience! Do not miss out on this peaceful, beautiful and relaxing experience. You can self cater, however we opted for the half board to include breakfast and dinner and it was fantastic. Don't miss out on the star gazing experience and the fossil outing, both on site in the expansive Rogge Cloof reserve. And if you have time, definitely visit the South African Large Telescope (SALT) and the delightful, quirky restaurant Boorgat! Make SALT reservations only online, and for the day visits!

Dear Rogge Cloof Team, what an adventurous and eventful weekend it was for us. Starting with playing stuck in the mud with the car, to being spoiled with the Milkyway above us. Getting to taste a delicious selection of wines, having a very personal interaction with a black and white worm that needed to get off one of us instantly, and seeing the scorpion mama with all her little babies clinging onto her. A big thank you to everyone who assisted us and a big special thank you to Nelmarie for showing us what Rogge Cloof has to offer.

Incredible location. We spoke at length to the new manager who explained that since opening a couple years ago, they decided to make upgrades in various departments to enhance the experience. Id say it’s currently a decent 4 star. Game/fossil drive and dining room was simply amazing. Rooms were also good. Slight shower pressure issue at the time but they sorted it out immediately. The room is super comfortable.. im a very fussy sleeper and have a Coco Mat Triton bed at home. Honestly, the bed was incredible. Food was good, not exceptional, but still very good. Except the home made bread which was insanely good. And then theres the stars! i ride bikes in the cederberg/karoo often and love the region more than anywhere in the world. And for stargazing you cant top Sutherland.

From the moment we arrived until the time we sadly had to leave, was an incredible experience. We were totally overwhelmed by the quality of the accommodation, cleanliness and space. Rogge Cloof is definitely the ideal place to unwind, rest and find your soul.

This place is a gem of a place located in the Karoo and I truly wish that more people should visit. We were allowed to check in early and the welcome we received was so heartwarming with friendly smiles and jokes upon arrival. We stayed at The stables which is so well designed and decorated. It has everything you need for your stay. We were given hand soap, shampoo , conditioner, a little welcome note. It has Large sliding doors overlooking the dam where springboks come and drink water. This place runs on solar power so no tv or hairdryers etc but the natural beauty surrounding you, you definitely won’t be missing the tv. I highly recommend this place to all.

Had a wonderful time at Rogge Cloof - a beautiful property that offers you everything you need to enjoy the beauty of the Sutherland-Karoo. Wide open space, nature, wildlife, fossils, warm hospitality, wine, relaxing and wow - this magnificent African sky. The star gazing alone is a reason to visit this magical place. A big thanks to Cara who was a wonderful guide, and nothing was too much to ask. The service is absolutely excellent.

What wonderful remote spot is this. After a long drive from Calvinia we arrived late in the afternoon and first had a very good diner. Then to our lovely cottage (room with a view) for a good sleep. The trip the next day with German and Eben was so nice although we didn't find the cheeta's. And then the wine tasting, baie lekker!!! Rogge Cloof is absolutely a good idea to stay for a couple of nights.
