Nice hotel with a nice view on the pagoda of Nara Park (which however is under renovation at the moment). The hotel offers private baths (reservation required) but they are not hot springs bath. The localisation was perfect (walking distance to Nara Park) and the personnel was nice and very helpful. We had a great stay. Only downside is that the hotel doesn't offer western beds (only Japanese futons).
Asukasou is an old hotel in Nara, famous for its cuisine, service, and the view of the five-story pagoda of Kofuku-ji Temple. Now the five-story pagoda is wrapped tightly, and you can't recognize it when you walk in front of it. It will take several years at the speed of Japan. There is no shuttle bus for service, and you can park at the door of the store. The staff are warm and attentive. The cuisine is kept up to standard, fresh and delicious, full of sincerity, and the seasoning is also very delicious, but the dishes are not served one after another. The room I booked is the most ordinary and smallest single room in the hotel, about 12 square meters, the bed is against the wall, the space is used to the extreme, and the bathroom has a bathtub. It is very new and clean, so it is not uncomfortable to live in such a small room. The rooms in the whole hotel have been renovated. The Japanese-style rooms are very beautiful, but the view of the pagoda is completely gone now. The public space hotel lobby is old, the carpet in the room corridor is very old and dirty, and the air conditioner in the hotel room is slightly loud. These are not problems. The biggest problem of this hotel is that the lobby bathroom has a very serious odor, which causes the restaurant on the first floor and the corridor on the second floor to be very smelly, with a smell of sewer. Fortunately, the door is sealed and the room has no smell. The location is very good. You need to take a taxi to JR Station and Kintetsu Station, but you can walk to the attractions. The hotel shop has good things and is not expensive. I bought tea and deer. Overall, I recommend staying here, but the problem of odor needs to be solved urgently.

The room is very nice, new and big, the service is very good, and they try their best to meet the requirements. My family can't eat seafood in the morning, so I just asked if the breakfast is a fixed menu and whether the dishes can be changed, because the previous hotel I stayed in couldn't change it, so I didn't have much hope, but the staff has been trying their best to help change it, thank you very much.
The TV in the room can adjust the language, and you can see the real-time number of people using the hot spring, these functions are great. The toiletries in the room are also very good. I arrived early to store my luggage, and when I came back in the evening, the luggage was already in the room, and the heater was turned on in advance, which was a good experience.
The only drawback is that I booked a room with a view of the five-story pagoda, but I didn't know that the five-story pagoda was under repair until I arrived. In addition, the sound insulation in the room is a bit insufficient, and I can hear the voices next door and the children outside.
I will stay here again when I come to Nara in the future.

The tatami is available and you can soak in the hot springs. The environment in Nara is really comfortable. There are deer at the door. There is a convenience store and Starbucks downstairs, which is quite convenient.

Thank you for spending a relaxing, unforgettable and charming day at Asukasou.
First of all, it is hard to imagine that this is a hotel that has been renovated (not opened for the first time) for nearly 40 years. It should be very well-known in the local area. After all, a hotel over 40 years old must be the childhood memory of many locals. So when taking a taxi, Asukasou drivers know that the hotel is very neat and clean. Although there are some traces of the old times, the overall maintenance level is very good.
Secondly, for us from China, the tatami room has the freshness of experiencing foreign culture. Although some Western guests complained about the damp and moldy smell, it should be that they are not used to the smell of tatami itself, which is similar to the smell of our country's straw mats.
Finally, we also booked dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The dinner ceremony and experience are really good. Maybe we haven't eaten too advanced kaiseki cuisine ourselves. Although the breakfast is a set meal, it is rich in variety and large in quantity. Overall, the room rate with breakfast and dinner seems expensive, but it is worth the money in terms of experience.
The only regret is that the five-story pagoda is under renovation during this period, which wastes the excellent view of the room, and therefore I am not in the mood to experience the hotel's private hot spring, which is really a pity. During the trip to Japan, I was exhausted from the journey. Only one night here, I was completely relaxed and healed not only physically but also mentally. I would like to come again if I have the chance.

The staff are very nice and the food in the restaurant is very good
Living on the 1st floor, there is no distant view. The open air Onsen is very comfortable, but there is no distant view.
Across the street is Nara Park

A standard Japanese hot spring hotel. Very clean, but the room is not well ventilated. The screen is only halfway open. When you open the window, mosquitoes will sneak in through the half-open gap. There are still mosquitoes at the end of October. Japan is also a strange season of spring and autumn.
The location of the hotel is very good. You can walk to Kofuku-ji Temple and Dongxiang Commercial Street in 5 minutes. It is very convenient for eating and shopping. The room is very large and clean. The most surprising thing is that the hotel's hot spring is not a sento, but a real hot spring with carbonated spring quality. The private bath environment is also very good and you can see the five-story pagoda outside. In short, Asukasou completely exceeded my expectations.

The location is good, there is a hot spring, and the scenery is pretty good. You can see the real-time crowding situation of hot springs on the TV, and you can adjust your trip.
The service is also very good. I saw many Japanese locals when I took the elevator.
More suitable for couples.

Pros: Good location (everything is convenient around), good service (everyone is very polite), dinner dishes are very good, you can see that they are made with care.
Cons: After being very polite, they are still very stubborn. I clearly booked a large room with a tower view, but the tower is being repaired now. I heard that it will be fenced off in April, but I didn't tell you. After all, your room is priced according to different views. It is very undesirable to use this as a selling point. What's more, I booked it after the renovation. Aren't they very particular about rules? How come there are no rules for this! Let everyone know in the comments to avoid spoilers.
Conclusion: Ctrip's after-sales service is really good now. If you need it, they will help you solve it. If you can't solve it, you can do it yourself. It's still super reassuring to book Ctrip.
The hotel's location is about a ten-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station. You can walk along the east-facing commercial street, which is quite easy to find. The scenery right outside Saruzawa Pond is very good.
The 65-square-meter family room I booked was very large and could directly see Kofukuji Temple. It was also very quiet at night. Private bathing costs 3,300 yen per 40 minutes, and there are not many people in public baths. There is a convenience store downstairs of the hotel, a Starbucks in five minutes, and you can walk to Todaiji Temple in about fifteen minutes.
Overall, it is highly recommended. It is a Japanese-style hotel with good value for money.

The room is large, comfortable and charming. There was a misunderstanding when booking. We were not given a room with a view of Kofukuji Temple's five-story pagoda, but we were compensated with the use of the terrace lounge. Thumbs up for the flexible and heartwarming service! The reservation-only private soup is very good, and the "Taying No Soup" is worthy of its name.
