Hotel Riu Monica - Adults Only

Everything perfect.

Stayed here for a week and would recommend with excellent facilities, very good service, good food with choice of two restaurants. Easily accessible too promenade and walk into Nerja. Plenty of alternative eating /drinking places close to hand.

Really good location, right on the seafront and only 10 minutes walk away from the old town. There are bars and Supermarket across the road. Pool area and gardens are very peaceful - no noisy music or aqua aerobics thankfully. The rooms are spacious with loads of storage space, nice bathrooms and very private balcony. We were in room 443, which had a side sea view. They are well maintained by the cleaning staff and tea/coffee replenished daily. There is a fridge in the room and a ceiling fan for those who don’t like air conditioning, although we found the air conditioning not very effective. One tiny little ****** - the drawers are quite difficult to open. The restaurant is large, but flows extremely well. Food is good and varied and drinks are reasonably priced. A small carafe of rose wine (for 2 people)€5.40, with white and red being slightly more expensive. 33cl bottle Heineken €3.95. Waiters and waitresses are very efficient (some of the waiters could really do with using a little less after-shave, as the perfume is often overpowering!) We ate in the themed restaurant once, but honestly wouldn’t recommend it, the starters and desserts were nice, but both of our main courses were awful. If we return to this area, we would definitely choose this hotel.

This is the third visit to the Rui Monica in Nerja, and it has never failed to welcome us. The hotel is immaculately clean, public areas as well as the rooms. All the spaces are beautifully maintained, both internally and externally. The staff at the hotel are very welcoming and accommodating with any requests and readily available when needed. The food is plentiful and always has a full range of dishes available. From paella to fish, cooked meats, salads, vegetables as well as all the sweet treats! Breakfast also has the full array of items, the only problem is what do you choose!! The Chef and team do a great job catering for everyone, along with the service staff. The hotels location right on the beach front is great, and to be able leave your sun lounger and walk over the promenade and step on the sand is perfect. If there is a negative, the hotels guest ages are that much older so wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for more youthful company. However, if you want to read a book, switch off and relax it’s the perfect spot.

The only issues we had was the food choices and they were not very appetising. Meat dishes tough, breakfast fried eggs like rubber, lying to long, the bacon was not cooked properly. No individual stations for fresh cooked omelettes/ fried eggs at breakfast time. There was no bread on offer at dinner which we thought was rather strange? Eat out a lot, we were half board, missed a lot of meals because food not to our liking. Hotel was quiet, adults only 65-90 year old guests

This was our 3rd stay at the Riu Monica and it didnt disapoint, the room was huge with loads of drawer space, my only criticism, and it is a personal thing, is lose the dining table and two highback chairs and replace with an armchair or sofa. The food at breakfast and dinner was wonderful, loads of choice and the fish options were fantastic. While the swimming pool is very cold (i didnt mind !) i can imagine some people would not like it and i was disappointed to find the indoor pool closed on the 12th may. I loce this hotel and hope to return in the near future.

Returned for 7th time. Love this place. Highlights for us are the pool and the restaurant. Hope to return in October

Lovely hotel. Staff friendly on arrival and throughout. Bedrooms were really comfortable with tea/coffee facilities. Food was excellent both breakfast and evening meal. Drinks were also reasonable for the evening meal which are charged to your room and you can pay at reception anytime or when you check out. Drinks in hotel bar were also the same price. Staff very friendly and entertainment was good. Great location right on promenade for good walks. 10 mins to balcon de Europe. Lots of bars and restaurants for lunch. Would recommend lovely place.

We booked the Riu for 5 days over my birthday. Another amazing stay with great staff throughout. On the day of my birthday there was a bottle of bubbly in my room and a little gift of toiletries from the girl who cleaned the room. That was a real treat. We paid to have our girls ( who both live in Nerja) accompany us at dinner that night. The guys in the restaurant are all efficient and made our stay special. If I had one complaint. Our room was over the bin area and was an awful noise when the bottles were disposed into the bins. Other than that it was an amazing stay. Thanks again. We will definitely be booking in again.
