My partner and I wanted to take her uncle out for a meal and decided upon the High Corner Inn. We have previously had excellent food and and a pleasant time there on many occasions. We arrived, were seated and presented with menu's. Nothing on the menu sounded particularly appealing, no pub classics and everything seemed very pricey. Feeling a little disappointed with the choice on offer we all opted for a burger and chips. (How can you go wrong with a burger?) The price of the burger was £19! Very pricey but expected a very good meal for that price. The burger arrived and was immediately disappointing, it was small with very little filling and served with a handful of fries. No coleslaw, no salad. The presentation was poor. On taking a couple of bites it was obvious that this was far from a premium burger. It was dry, tasteless and our companion found gristle in his first bite. We called the waiter and my partners uncle explained the issue and asked for something else from the menu. The waiter and the chef were then loudly voicing from the kitchen that my partner's uncle was 'just fussy' and there was nothing wrong with it. This conversation was repeated again just to make doubly sure that we were able to hear what they were saying. I'm afraid we left our meal (which we had barely touched) and walked out. We will never return to The High Corner Inn again. I'm sure that no-one would wish to pay £19 for a poor quality, dry burger and a handful of fries, let alone be audibly insulted by the staff. Very poor indeed. Choose any other pub in the New Forest but this one.
