Prytania Park Hotel

The Prytania, like so much of New Orleans, straddles the line between extremely beautiful and wealthy neighborhoods and extremely poor ones, both of which are only a few blocks away. The Prytania has obviously been around for awhile and the physical plant of the hotel definitely shows it. Everything shows the wear and tear of age, and it has the smell of rooms that have experienced decades of New Orleans heat and humidity. That said, you get used to that quickly, and it's clean, well maintained, and has genuine New Orleans character, i.e. a ragged, rumpled charm. And for parents with kids (that are say 5+), I think the two floored rooms offers some real plusses. :) Though it was a good deal for the price we paid. And they even sell reasonably priced sundries in the lobby. Since we had an evening flight out and wanted to do some touring and then shower before heading to the airport, we paid a half night extra for an extra late (3 pm) checkout. That was a bit more than I thought was right (we left on a Wednesday and the hotel was almost empty, so it was really free money for the hotel and I think $40-50 would have been a fairer price), but it wasn't unreasonable either and my wife really wanted to do it.

This is the fourth or fifth time I stayed here and for good reason- the people who run the hotel are great, the room are clean and comfortable, the place has a wonderful, European-like feel, and the location is GREAT for us. We were in NOLA for our son's college graduation and we had several family members all stay here. They all loved it, including my brother and sister-in-law who are used to the finest hotels. The price is great and the value is unparalleled in NOLA.

Although this is an older facility, it was well maintained and located conveniently in the Garden District. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and the Continental Breakfast was not fancy but sufficient. It's location has easy access to the Hop On/Hop Off bus which I highly recommend

I highly recommend staying at Prytania Park Hotel in New Orleans! The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I chose this hotel because they have a well lit parking lot with overnight security. I felt safe. Our room had a metal spiral staircase in it. My teenager thought it was cool to go up the stairs to go to bed. I would definitely stay here again.

Great value, nice people. The mattress in room 103 was worn out. Other than that the room was nice. Very cold AC. Just a public service message~ when being in a room on the 2nd floor~ be mindful of the people in the rooms below you. We would stay here again.

This hotel is in the Garden District, within walking distance of the WWII museum, or a short St Charles Trolley ride ( 80 cents, exact change needed) . It provides free parking and gates in the parking at night. The buildings are old, some dating from the 1840's and renovated. Our bed was exceedingly comfortable, the breakfast was a continental breakfast with English muffins, yogurt, cereal, fruit and juice. Definitely not cookie cutter corporate accommodations, but privately owned and run. Lots of great outdoor sheltered seating with tables. Magazine Street and St Charles Ave provides lots of restaurants. I recommend Joey K's and Rum House.

Had a few troubles during my stay. Nothing that by themselves would be terribly off-putting, but unfortunately found the manager to be argumentative when addressing them. Coming here, I see some responses that showcase that same attitude. The hotel was generally fine, but cant be sure what type of service you will receive. Too many great options to deal with someone that may fuss at you instead of resolving the issue graciously.
