The room was small, noisy, the hardware was old, and the front desk service had a black female foreman who was indifferent.

Stayed in the hotel for one night. I was concerned about the hotel having a lobby cat due to allergies but it was a very clean establishment. Small rooms but clean and bed was comfortable. If you are a light sleeper, there was quite a bit of street noise (it’s to be expected in the area. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the bar - Stopped for a quick drink at the bar but they insisted we sit at a table (which I found odd) until I saw the bill which then had mandatory gratuity added (for one round of drinks and no food).

The hotel is very threadbare and needs a complete renovation. In addition to being dated and worn, I felt it was unclean (see photos). At $669 + $40 destination charge + taxes, I don't think it's anywhere near worth it. I suspect that most 4* and 5* are bogus and users should only use <4* to understand quality. In addition, you get no benefits as a Titanium member so pick any other Marriott hotel in NY which is not easy given the lack of choice.

The Algonquin has become our Midtown home-away-from-home. This time around, we received the same top-notch service as we've come to know so well not only by the human team, but Hamlet the cat as well, who allowed us to take a photo with him while we were sipping on our traditonal end-of-the-night espresso martinis at Blue Bar. The bed's comfy, the showers are great and you can't beat the location midway between Penn Station and the Theater District.

Stepping into The Algonquin Hotel is like entering the very heart of New York City’s vibrant culture. This historic gem offers a unique charm that transports you to the center of all that NYC has to offer. Every aspect of hospitality is executed with detail, from the warm welcome by the bellmen to the professional service at the front desk. The Blue Bar is an ideal spot for a delightful meal or a refreshing cocktail, perfect for unwinding before or after a Broadway show. The Algonquin stands out not only for its exceptional team but also for its rooms that are both clean and spacious, reflecting the hotel’s storied history. Despite its prime location on West 44th Street, it offers a sense of privacy and tranquility just steps away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Exploring New York on foot becomes an adventure with The Algonquin as your base. The hotel’s rooms, dining options, and strategic location are truly remarkable, and the team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is extra special.

Sharda Graham was amazing. She gave the best service and made me feel at home. She had lots of knowledge about the history and great recommendations. The hotel is in the heart of the city and everything is close by. The lobby is beautiful and seeing Hamlet was great.

The hotel was fantastic this is my first time in NYC and I must say I will be back. Sharda Graham was so great. She made me feel as if I knew her for years. She made it very clear she was at my service. Hamlet was out in the lobby and so friendly. The food was amazing.

What a wonderful place. Old world elegance remains even though things are B modernized. Great shower, for example. Room is very dark at night & we couldn’t hear any noises. Very nice staff, waiters, cleaning people & Sharda at the front desk to name a few. Great location near the theaters but without the craziness of where the theaters are. Near Grand Central, Macy’s, a big fun street fair, and so on.
