We were really looking forward to our stay at the Andaz, since we'd stayed there once years ago and it was terrific (and we used a Hyatt award to upgrade to a suite this time). But it was an unfortunate disappointment. The room was spacious and the bathroom was great, and the location of course is superb (hence the 2 stars rather than 1). But there was no decor or character; the furnishings were old, uncomfortable, and scuffed; edges of the cabinets were pulling away from the walls; one pillow was a sack of lumps and bumps; the towels were thin and rough; the mattress was extremely saggy; the air vents desperately needed a vacuuming; and a flickering light bulb that we reported to the front desk was never replaced. For a flagship hotel at one of Hyatt's high-end brands, this one didn't come close to living up to billing or expectations.
