Arrived at eight in the evening and was welcomed by a smiling member of the reception staff. She got my name and less than 5 minutes later I was checked in. I got a premier room at the 11th floor. Two elevators which operates very fast and I was in the room short after. The room faced to the back of the hotel but still plenty of light from above. The room was for me spacious with a very comfortable king size bed. The width of the room was determined by the length of the bed and a small gap to the wall, which was kind of narrow but still possible to walk by. There is Air condition, a small comfortable work space with room for laptop, microwave, asmall refrigerator and a coffee/tea maker. Also a huge flatscreen TV on the wall with loads of channels. There is a very fast WiFi in the room and it did not see to be slow at any time. The bathroom was very clean with nice amenities. And I appreciated that this bathroom had a low/high-flush toilet in order to preserve water. Outside the room next to the elevator there is station for filling free bottles with clean purified water. On the 2nd floor there was a small area to sit work or talk. There is a printer and a coffe maker which produced great coffee. On other floors there is vending machines and ice allthough I did not try them out. I was a little confused about cleaning. You are supposed ask for cleaning and it is possible to get an express- or full-cleaning. I like that idea because I do not need to change towels or linen everyday, The first day though they cleaned the room without me asking so I got a little confused about cleaning but when I talked to Elisabeth she took the time to explain it and did so with the greatest smile. In generel every staff member I encountered at the hotel was smiling and ever so helpful. And the level of service provided is defintely above expectations. When I came for my luggage after checkout the gentleman at the reception asked if I needed anything before leaving; coffe, bathroom break, any help for transport etc. That is great service. Location of the hotel is perfect with MoMA, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Times Square within a short walking distance and if you come with subway from JFK airport it is only a couple of blocks from the subway station. The only minor thing is that there is no safe in the room. However there is only one entrance to the hotel and it seems that there is always a member of the staff present and a key card is required to use the elevator, so I felt comfortable leaving laptops etc in the room. I do not know if there was a safe in the reception I very much enjoyed the 6 nights I spent at the Jewell and will definitely consided this hotel the next time I am in New York.
