We have stayed in The Regency multiple times. We knew what to expect and yet it felt old, tired and uninviting. Afraid this is not a luxury hotel, rather a perfectly located 4 star hotel in need of refresh. Will not focus on the fact that chatting to the service and informing them about our anniversary resulted in nothing. Or the fact that we were offered an upgrade to a "suite" facing inwards instead of our Avenue booked room. I will focus to the very specifics: 1. rooms are very tired and especially this inward looking suite felt old. Scratched surfaces, chipped corners, holes in the chairs. 2. rooms were clear and housekeeping very polite but they only came for turndown service once during our 3 day stay. 3. Check in made us feel like they are doing us a favour offering the upgrade ( by the way our booked room apparently was not available). Checkout was rude and rushed. There are no real amenities in the Hotel, the only amazing thing is its location. No personal touch, no luxury, no elegance. So if you are not particular about decor, ambience or luxury maybe this hotel would be fine for you. If you care about service, amenities, style and decor you will be disappointed.
