Sonder — The Nash

Excellent location. Helpful and friendly concierge, spacious for Manhattan, very nice apar**ent. Cleanliness as expected in the United States (almost clean...in that slightly dingy way of things in the USA - but without carpets - which helps a lot).

Good points The location is convenient and easy to get around. There is always a receptionist, so there is a sense of security. The best thing about it is that there is a kitchen. Bad points I requested early check-in, but the room had not been cleaned. The kitchen lights were not turned on, so I had to cook in the dark. There were too few towels, so I asked for more, but there were still not many. There was not enough toilet paper, and no storage.

We stayed in room 2K which we booked on the Sonder app. The reality was not identical to the photos, the carpet, the green cushions on the bed, the blue throw, the Marshall speaker, the plant were missing. But hey, ultimately it's not very serious. Where we were surprised was that it was very cold in the room, so we contacted Sonder to get another duvet. We got a quick response but unfortunately after one night no one came. I had to put my coat and scarf on the bed first thing in the morning. After checking we found that the window was dilapidated and that a draft was passing through. The bed being next to the window, the draft falls on you... I insisted with Sonder who gave me a partial refund for the night. When we returned from our 2nd day we found that the heating had been adjusted and it was very hot. So we spent the rest of the stay turning the heating on very high (it was very cold in NYC at that time) but the downside is that this heating makes a lot of noise, impossible to sleep with it. So we turned it down at bedtime so as not to be disturbed by its noise and we turned it up when we woke up. But the same problem remained, it was very cold in the early morning. We noticed before leaving that in fact the double glazing of the window only had one pane left, the other was probably broken. And I see from previous reviews that someone posted photos of this same window, already broken in December. I wrote to Sonder but no response. How come this window is not repaired??? It is abnormal to rent accommodation with such a major problem. For the rest, the accommodation was a little degraded but nothing disturbing in my opinion. Another downside on the bedding which did not smell very good despite clean sheets. The same goes for the gray armchair, it deserves to be cleaned, it doesn't smell very good. For the bathroom, the water was not hot enough for our liking, for the rest, ok. Clean bath towels, large bathroom cabinet with mirror + large mirror above the sink. Just missing another bar to hang the second towel, there is only one bar, it's a little tight for 2 bath towels. Knowing that there is a hair dryer available is a good point. The bedroom has 2 large closets, an ironing board with iron. The kitchen ok, quite complete for extra. Lack of tea towels. The other not cool point: the laundry. Possibility of buying a card for $5 and crediting it to then use the machines. Only what Sonder doesn't say is that you have to credit this card with at least $15! namely that there is no detergent dispenser. So you have to buy detergent in addition. I was very happy with the accommodation. It is spacious and clean. What more do you need when you are in NYC and want to see the city? I did everything on foot, it is very centrally located. Thank you very much.
