Booked a studio room at the Bernic Hotel to attend our daughter's graduation at St Johns in NYC. Didn't realize that my daughter would stay with us after her graduation because she thought she could stay in the dorm thereafter. She was required to be out of the dorm by 5pm on the day of graduation. We departed from SFO in the late afternoon and wouldn't arrive in NYC until 12am. During our flight I receive a text from the Bernic Hotel staff member asking what time we would be arriving at the hotel. Unfortunately, there was no Wi-Fi during our flight, and I did not receive the text until we landed. I texted the staff and let them know that we would check in sometime after 1 am because of the construction at JFK. The staff member stated it would be no problem. We arrived at the hotel around 1:30 and were greeted by the front desk person who was very professional and friendly. We informed her that our daughter would be staying in our room after her graduation. and need to upgrade to a bigger room or a room with 2 queen beds. She said she would inform her manager of our request. We arrived at our room on the 8th floor which was very small. It only had a king bed, a foot stool and a Juliet balcony that was not accessible. The studio was not soundproof, and you can hear everything happening outside like the construction and ambulance. We would recommend staying on the upper floor to avoid the noise. The next morning, we received a call from management that a suite was available with a king bed and a sofa sleeper for an additional charge which was not outrageous. The suite was only available for 4 days and we would have to move back to our studio on the last day of our stay. Bummer, we still had some time before we leave and there was a chance someone would cancel. We asked for a tour of the suite before agreeing to upgrade. Management gave us a tour of the suite which was on the 18th floor. The suite was more spacious, and the noise level was a lot better. We agreed to the upgraded. The manager informed us to pack our luggage that night for staff to move our luggage to the suite the next day. The next day we went out and our luggage was moved to the suite on the 17th floor. We came back from being out and the front desk provided us with the access card for our suite. It was so much better, and we were able to get a good night of sleep. On the day of my daughter's graduation, she stayed with us and had her own area. We contacted the manager to inquire if there was any cancellation on the third day of the day of our stay in the suite and they said not at the time. They told us to wait until Monday because there would be better chance of someone cancelling. We received a text message that evening about a cancellation for the penthouse for the same upgrade fee. We jumped at the opportunity and did the same procedure for moving our luggage. The next day we received the access card and went to the penthouse. What a special su
