I travel frequently and usually I do not stay at a commercial hotel. The Bernic, despite being part of the Hilton family, is actually a small boutique hotel. I wish I could have stayed longer than the 5 wonderful nights I spent at the Bernic. Cleanliness in NYC hotels is always a major concern. My room was spotless. The whites were white. There was no nasty carpeting. The bathroom looked like it was just updated with sparkling white tiles. The minibar refrigerator actually kept items cold. There was a window that I could open and the AC was controlled in the room (no shared ventilation with other rooms). There was no noise from the hallway or adjacent rooms. Staff members were pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Also, there were no "resort fees" charged, unlike most other NYC hotels that charge these additional fees.
