Ace Hotel New York

Excellent service. As we checked in we informed them it was our anniversary and they gave us free drink vouchers! Love all the nice smelling toiletries in the bathroom too.

I stayed in one of the very small interior rooms. This, in and of itself, is not an issue. But the AC/heat for the unit didn’t work properly so they added a floor AC unit which had an exhaust pipe going out the window. It was an eyesore. The shower never got hot (I was on the second floor so that should not have been an issue), nor did it drain properly. The room itself needed a bit of TLC…lots of paint chipping, chipped sink etc. The layout of the room was horrible, leaving less than a foot between the bathroom wall and foot of the bed. The staff was LOVELY though and the bed was very comfortable.

If you are visiting New York City and want to know what it’s like to have a sweet apt in the heart of it all then book here! The loft suite has a great view and is right around 750 square feet. It’s like the loft apartments you see on tv and movies. The hotel is located around a bunch of shopping and has a wonderful coffee bar in the hotel!!! Highly recommend!

Did not put me in a room with “city view” that I paid for. Major, dangerous leak in bathroom that no one communicated to front desk after THREE attempts. Moldy old shower curtains that have to be against health code. Claims on room service like “Wagu beef” are patently FALSE. $9 (!) charge for water. Broken refrigerator. Bath tub doesn’t drain. Nothing has been update since I was here 14 years ago. Property fee is a joke. And same charge for a one-bedroom non city view so obviously the pricing is ARBITRARY.

The staff were super friendly and helpful and were able to get me a room earlier than check in time (which was a life saver after a red eye flight), which meant it was a slight downgrade (city view switched to a view of a bunch of other rooms in the center of the hotel), but worth it to be able to sleep as soon as I got in. The location was great, I found it super convenient and close to City Bikes, ample taxi/Lyft availability, and close subway access (not an accessible station though). There are great restaurants, bars, and sweet treat spots within a three-block radius. The room itself is odd, it feels like a chic dorm room for hipsters. The bed itself was comfy, the linens were fine. The bathroom was a bit odd, but the water pressure in the shower was top notch. I would have liked a little less heavily scented soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The bathroom didn't have a fan to help clear the steam, which is a pain. The fridge is small and unfortunately fully stocked, so you have to move stuff around to fit anything in there. My highest regard for a hotel is if the room air conditioning can get cold enough for my liking and if there is possibly a fan available (I love a very cold room and moving air). Unfortunately, the room did not get cold at all, and there were no fans. Bummer. The waits for the tiny elevators multiple times took long periods and the line for the elevator made it so too many people would pack in, and it was uncomfortable. Thankfully, I booked it through Hotwire and the pricing was fair. For the price I paid, I would still stay here again.
