I am giving the hotel 5 stars as it has one feature (for us) that far outweighs a few other minor issues. We stayed as a family of four with boys 17 and 19. We had been planning to go to New York for a few years but almost didn't when Airbnb was banned as hotel rooms are not suitable in the US, i.e. only queen beds and no singles. However we luckily found this place that had two bedrooms (one with two single beds) plus a large lounge/diner and kitchen. Hence it was like having an apartment. The rooms are a bit tired so if you want a modern plush hotel then maybe it's not for you. The location is very central and you can reach a lot of places by walking. As an aside we used the subway for longer trips and found it to be fine. Breakfast is good but busy. The only gripe here is that the room was unbearably hot and hence we didn't always stay even if there was space to sit so would take food back to our room. The staff here and throughout the hotel are excellent. There was a lot of street noise. We were at the front ( level 4) but not sure it would be any different elsewhere. The New York 'honking' is a 24 hour phenomenon ! Overall if you are a family looking for space and location then this would be a good choice.
