Gild Hall - A Thompson Hotel

From check-in to check-out our experience was excellent. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were always helpful and friendly. Our room was refreshed every day (including towel changes). The room was well equipped with fridge, safe, clothes steamer and even an umbrella.

I've stayed here twice and I was less than perfectly satisfied on my first stay, but after speaking with the hotel about it, the guest experience manager reached out and offered to help in any way he could on our subsequent stays and I have to say he really delivered. I have to say I came away impressed with how hard the staff works at this hotel to deliver a well above average hospitality experience. We are Globalists (the highest tier status with Hyatt) and used a suite upgrade award; the first time we got a very elegant, spacious, and pleasing one bedroom suite - this time we also used a suite upgrade award and got a spectacular "Thompson Suite" which was huge, with soaring ceilings, which is going way above and beyond. The only reason I am not giving the hotel a 5 star review is simply due to the structure of the building itself, which was an issue as well with my first stay - the rooms are simply not quite well insulated enough for us to really be completely comfortable when the weather is as cold as it was both in my prior stay and this one, even with the heater running full blast. Ironically the problem might actually be worse in the otherwise very nice suites - having more physical volume to heat up might make it a bit harder to achieve a comfortable temperature. It might be the case that these larger suites need slightly more power from the heaters. The Beekman Hotel, nearby, which is also a Thompson brand hotel, is in some ways the opposite - it's more upscale and expensive, and everything feels a notch above in terms of luxury, but the suites are MUCH smaller than Gild Hall - however there are no problems keeping the room at a comfortable temperature! All in all, Gild Hall is an enjoyable experience and the staff goes above and beyond, and I would certainly stay here again, although I might choose a somewhat more temperate time to stay here.

Had to fix the blocked toilet myself as you cant get a 24 hr plumber in NYC apparently according to staff. Maybe they can use all that prosecco to wash down the pipes!!If you wanna get ahead in NYC forget wall st , open in the services industry , esp building trades !

This hotel is a gem. It will be my first choice next time to NY. Staff and facility are excellent. American Express Gold hotel has perks. The hotel is very clean, located in a lovely area and the service is very good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Visit for 9 nights and had a great stay. Loved being treated as an individual not "just another guest". The housekeeping team did a really good job on my room and I loved real pillows, must have been feather not hollowfibre (but i'm guessing). Close to a few subway stations, less than a ten minute walk to Ground Zero, Staten Island Ferry, or Pier 11 for the East River Ferry so easy to get uptown too. The only thing is no real view except across the road, so if thats a must for you, look elsewhere. But if only a place to rest / sleep, it works. Cant comment on the restaurant, food, or any additional services as not used.

This was an elegant, friendly place to stay in a great location. The hotel is relatively small and nicely decorated, and our room seemed quite spacious. You’re close to multiple subway stations and to the river. Beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge are just a short walk from the hotel. All the staff were polite and very helpful. We’d definitely stay there again!

Beautiful hotel friendly staff.

The staff here is awesome!!! Rob who is the assistant director of guest experience made our stay just that much more special. He was attentive to all our needs weather it be staying at the hotel but had many options for different cuisines in the area. Weather you are traveling for business or pleasure this location is easy access to all sites in NYC. The entire staff from the bell hop/ front door greeters to house keeping and desk clerk staff were very attentive to everything. Its the people that make things happen and they truly want to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
