Sonesta Select Newark Christiana Mall

We stay here frequently and find it very good. This time the only snag was we were given a room that was missing the light blocking curtain. I reported it upon check out and was told they that curtain was being repaired and the room was not to have been booked. She apologized but should probably have offered some kind of discount or other perk for the inconvenience.

The staff was wonderful. The layout of my room was wonderful. Nothing to complain about

This hotel is deplorable and I'm not sure where to start. The room we had smelled badly like mold/mildew. The handicap shower didn't work as intended the fixed shower head the water would not get warm/hot. The handicap shower worked but no water pressure and difficult to get hot water at all. The shower curtain was stained and disgusting. The toilet did not like to flush and the sink wouldn't drain. We didn't use the shower as it was just downright gross. We were given 2 sets of towels (wash cloth/hand towel/bath towel) and we had 4 people. We requested more but were told there weren't any more and this was the same for pillows/blankets etc. There was hair all over the bathroom (not ours) and what seemed like candy wrappers in the room as well. There was also hair on the bedding. We had travelled there for a hockey tournament and it seemed that this hotel was not prepared. They had approximately 3 teams sharing this hotel and several guests were given a King room (1 King bed and a chair pullout) and they had a family of 4. This hotel was under resourced in every way imaginable and to complain wouldn't have gotten me anywhere as there weren't any rooms to be had and other guests had the same complaints of the filthy rooms. Not to mention the hallways reeked of **** or mildew/mold/cigarettes. It was uncomfortable walking in the hotel as there were a few hotel guests that were unsavory. There was a homeless gentleman sleeping in the lobby all day. Our children were threatened by another hotel guest who was around 11 years old and he was vaping in the conference room that we rented. He also told our kids that he was going to fight them and when asked to leave the conference room his mom/sister came in upset that he wasn't allowed to join our children. I would like a refund for my hotel stay as I couldn't wait to go home this was a nightmare. I was forced to stay here!

I loved my balcony and Tyson who helped me on the phone when I called with questions prior to my visit. Nice employees compared to the last time I visited and a very quite stay and area

We enjoyed our stay and I was so happy that we got a free upgrade.

Solid overall choice for the price. A series of yellow flags, but no red flags. Some examples include (1) the bathroom door doesn't stay open, (2) the sink doesn't drain very quickly, (3) back door entrance was not functioning, (4) the smoking areas is right by one of the doors, so when it is windy and the door opens, the hallway smells like **** and cigs. Again, nothing really really bad, but just a little things here and there. Overall, an okay stay for the price.

Lobby/guest area is great. Staff is excellent.
