(Room: 409) We had looked forward to staying here for a long time and on arrival were excited to be upgraded to a junior suite on the top floor. The room although a little dated was lovely, there was a sitting area and a table and chairs. Our only negative was that there was a steep step into the bathroom, which my partner fell down in the middle of the night in the dark, injuring her arm. A small light as a warning and reminder might be useful and prevent accidents. When reporting this to reception it was clear that they knew of the risk as referred to the room number before we told them. We treated ourselves to Afternoon tea in the hotel to celebrate a special occasion, and whilst the food was lovely, the tea served was tea bags and for the price and venue (5 star) we were expecting loose leaf tea and a selection of different teas. The younger staff in the dining areas appeared to lack experience and could be more friendly. We left feeling that on the surface and immediate customer facing areas the hotel is 5 stars but once inside it struggles to be this.
