We visited Newcastle to see Girls Aloud so we were looking for an affordable, dog friendly hotel in the centre of town. We opted for Motel One and we’re very pleased we did. The hotel is in a great location, just off Grey Street and a 10 min walk down to the Quayside. Despite being so central we didn’t hear any noise at all from our room (3rd floor) and had a great nights sleep both nights so we were pleasantly surprised! The hotel was really clean throughout and facilities were good - a sunny drinks terrace, nice lounge area and the staff were all really friendly and helpful (especially the check in staff who chatted to us about our plans for the weekend, our dog and even gave him a little welcome treat). Our room was as you’d expect - a little basic in the sense it had everything we needed for a weekend stay and nothing more but for the price point we couldn’t ask for much more. We really enjoyed the massive comfy bed, powerful shower and great air con. Being dog friendly sealed the deal for us too. We parked at the Copthorne Hotel on the Quayside and booked through Your Parking Space - £27 for two days and 10 mins walk from the hotel. Would definitely recommend Motel One as a base if you’re going to be out and about exploring.
