Lovely rooms in a sympathetically restored old quayside building. Great location - close to the quay but only 30 min walk to centre of town. What made the real difference were the staff and service. Jonathon on the front desk was extremely helpful from start to finish and made sure that our stay was the best it could be. The rest of the team were also very welcoming, thanks also to Gary. We’ll definitely be back here on our next trip to Newcastle

Incredible all round. I booked a junior suite, it was for my anniversary. I notified the staff and they really were exceptional making us feel special with a beautiful room, some Lindt chocolates and free cocktails. Everyone was so engaging, especially Jonathan who greeted us and checked us in. Stunning hotel, great location, beautiful rooms, fantastic staff. What more could you want! I will be back :) thanks

I had a really disappointing afternoon tea here. My partner booked the afternoon tea in advance, advising the hotel of our dietary requirements. However, on the day, it turned out that the plant based desserts had been spoiled in transit and that they actually didn’t have anything. Despite overhearing an argument between the manager and chef, he did not tell us about the issue until he brought the full afternoon tea over (40mins after arrival) and said that they’d made me a dessert from the main menu instead. The plant based scones had no taste and crumbled upon eating. Neither mine nor my partner’s scones were served with jam, we were not offered any tea throughout the meal, and the manager did not seem on hand to help with anything - or seem interested in ensuring we had a nice meal. I was so looking forward to this but I sadly have nothing nice to say about the afternoon tea.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first time at Hotel Du Vin and had an excellent evening wine tasting and enjoying some great dishes. Andrew was the perfect host and the staff could not do enough for us - we will be returning!

Fantastic stay in beautiful rooms. The staff were amazing and a big thank you to Andrew and his team nothing was too much trouble. We were there for the Australian wine dinner and both the food and wine was top notch. I would definitely recommend this hotel. A 5 star visit for me
