Similar to the other reviewer, I too was scheduled to stay here for the great north run 2020. Was allowed to move the booking to 2021 (For a £43 additional fee) as a 'good will gesture'. Was contacted by the hotel 1 month before the great north run (i'd had the booking 18 months by this point), to be told "Due to effect of the global pandemic, the hotel has been unable to reopen therefore we are sad to announce, we will not be able to accommodate any future bookings" Leaving me scrambling to get a new hotel booked, at an even greater cost. Was then told by the hotel 2 weeks later that they'd now be open! "The Newbridge hotel will be open from 9th September for the Great North Run weekend and if you have not yet rebooked elsewhere your booking still stands with us. If you have indeed made other plans or cancelled your arrangements, please let us know and we will process your refund as promised” Didnt stay here. No communication from the hotel to any of my requests for refunds. Been nearly 2 months now since they initially cancelled the booking. Not had a penny back. AVOID.
