Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa

Nice decor etc, but service was a shambles. Instead of being guided to our rooms the receptionist just stood and pointed at the three different directions our party of five were meant to go in. The Bar was 'fully booked' with all tables reserved. Blank looks from tattooed barman when we asked for drinks, as if to say 'can't you see we are fully booked?' The bar was almost empty. We felt guilty for troubling him. Breakfast was Fawlty Towers. We booked as a party of five, but no five seater table was available. We waited for two to be pushed together and re-laid. The first day we asked for de-caf tea and got de-caf coffee. We asked for toast and got four slices for five people. A full-English minus sausage arrived which nobody had ordered. Porridge was cold. Bacon was forgotten from two orders. The second day was no better. Honestly, it's hard to remember service as bad in a 'posh' venue. We were glad we didn't book for dinner.
