When I asked about a place to eat nearby, there wasn't one, so I was directed to a restaurant in the hotel.
After walking around the area a bit, I found a sushi restaurant and a convenience store.
I wish they had been a little more detailed in their instructions. I was looking forward to my first trip to Niigata, so I was disappointed with the service.

The hotel is a good choice for small group of traveller. I am impressed by the low price and excellent hygiene of this hotel. The view is panoramic to the harbor.
However, the air-conditioner sometimes does not work and we have to call the front desk to turn on the cooling for the room every other day.
There is no gym room or facilities in the hotel except the lower floors of the building is indeed a famous art museum and exhibition or some sort. It could be interesting to visit the museum. Hotel in Japan seldom comes with gym facilities so I am not too annoyed by that.

I stayed here for one night on a family trip. Booked 2 smoking rooms. At check-in, they took care of our children and made one room non-smoking! What's more, we upgraded to a twin, and both my child and I were thrilled! My husband was able to relax and smoke, and we were able to spend a comfortable time at the hotel! The cleaning was thorough and the hospitality was excellent, as expected from Nikko! I want to stay here again!

The view here is very good. You can see the entire Niigata city and the sea. The room is much larger than the one in the city. There are small tables and chairs to sit and watch the scenery. There are ice machines and drink vending machines on each floor. It's a decent hotel. It's quite far from the station, so you have to take a bus to get there. Otherwise, it takes a long time to walk.
