A very British hotel, just like a traditional hotel in London. Maybe it's because it's in the mountains, the weather is much colder. There are no bugs and geckos along the way, which is a bit strange. The bar is very comfortable, the afternoon tea is also exquisite, and it feels like I'm in the UK instead of Lanka for the time being

The room is average, old. The room alone is not worth 1700. There is no need to spend money to stay here, you can walk in to the bar, Thai restaurant, Indian restaurant, afternoon tea, and you can pay with cash or credit card. You can enter all places by punching in. Many people come here to punch in and eat and then stay in other hotels. I think the hill club next door is a good substitute, they are all old houses anyway. Save 1000 yuan and do anything you want, rich people can do whatever they want. The black people here are completely different from the Chinese and white people. When white people check in, they will take you on a hotel tour and introduce you. The black person who took us to the room had a cold face the whole time, and of course I wouldn't give you the tip I prepared if you gave me a face. The hotel has a check-out time of 11 o'clock, please note this. I agreed to 12 o'clock, and he called me at 11:30 to ask me to check out, otherwise I would be fined 5000 rupees...haha

The facilities are old, only the public area and the garden are the most beautiful. The room smells very musty, and the flush toilet is often not flushed. I barely slept on the first night, and I couldn't stand the musty smell the next day so I changed rooms. There are obviously many vacancies in the off-season. I don't understand why we were assigned a noisy, small, and road-side room on the first day. The waiter was very cold, as if he worked in a hotel where the queen stayed and he was the queen himself. The best attitude was the waiter of grand tai, who was warm and thoughtful. There are many restaurant choices. It is recommended to eat Thai food, walk in the garden and drink afternoon tea, and there is no need to stay overnight.

The hotel environment is good, but the room is a bit small. The small garden is not open, and there is no suitable place to walk around. However, the small souvenir shop in the hotel is good, and I even bought two professional books.

Catering: There are buffet and Indian restaurant a la carte for dinner. We choose to taste the authentic Indian meal. The curry is really quite enough, but it is acceptable. In particular, we would like to commend SanKaLpa who served us. He is a very humorous Yala guy. He enthusiastically recommends and introduces special delicacies for us, making our dining experience particularly comfortable👍 Service: Everyone is full of enthusiasm from the moment they enter the lobby, unlike some guides that discriminate against Chinese people, they don't feel it at all. Situated in hear of Nuwara Eliya.. One of the best hotel in this area and the garden is wonderful..Food is delicious and you can select Indian/thai or western restaurant in your stay (for set menu days)..Rooms very tidy and having all facilities..Superb hospitality and staff is very friendly.I highly recommend Grand Hotel for your stay..

Wow, this was something! What a hotel. Very big and absolutely luxurious (and that is saying something coming from a Swiss traveller). I would say up there with the "Leading Hotels of the World", definitely 5-star standard. Old English colony grandeur celebrated here, with 3 massive snooker tables (each apparently weighing multiple tons). Superb food and service, great pub at night. Go there, if possible for multiple days, this is the perfect English oasis in Sri Lanka!
