The Ranald Hotel

The room was convenient, nice and clean, not many lateral surfaces to put things on. Unfortunately, we overlooked a slight cliff, no view. Windows do open. Had breakfast the last morning, have had much better. Beware no lift and no help available. For a senior it was a tough task carrying luggage up and down the stairs.. not handicapped accessible at all.

Been coming here for past 4 years never had a problem but this year after booking this a year in advance . We are 3 x60 year old lady friends and any other year we have had 3 single beds so on arrival we was handed keys and we walked in room to a double bed which was no good for us so we went back out and told them they said they would fix it so we went out for few hours to see that 3 bed together no way for the middle person to get in and out of bed so the 3 of us moved the room about so we could have walk way each put cabinet in between so that was sorted they also made up one bed with double duvet which to the lady's reply that best we can do so take it or leave it this lady with black hair on the desk was very rude and not helpful at all also went out next day rooms was not done and no clean towels cups or glasses in the 4 nights we stayed no cleaning or making beds was done or bins emptied , there was no Wi-Fi only good part is the young lady that does the breakfast she was so lovely and went above and beyound getting everyone's breakfast I must say that's the best part about it . While we stayed we will not be back and have book in another hotel cheaper . The lady on the day we arrived was not interested in helping like we was forgot about and not welcome by her my name is Michele Thompson . I hope I get a reply on this I have gave a review on the page but dought we will hear anything back .

I booked 9 apar**ents to celebrate a friends 40th birthday. I’m local to the area but my friends are not. Archie was very helpful with the booking and nothing was a bother. To say it was a great weekend was an understatement. The apar**ents were spotless, very central to everything and we even got a complementary bottle of fizz. Would definitely recommend

Second time staying at The Ranald and I will definitely return. The staff are very welcoming and friendly throughout your stay, even at breakfast when everybody turns up at 9 a.m., but they manage and all with a smile. I've found the bedrooms to be perfect for my stays and the toilet/shower room is really nice and well equipped. The hotel and rooms are well decorated and the little sheep paintings are a lovely touch. It's in the centre of Oban but on a street with very little traffic. The only downside for people with mobility issues is the lack of a lift, but I'm sure the staff would be helpful if a lower floor was needed. All in all it ticks all the boxes for a short stay in Oban at a reasonable price.

We had a wonderful stay here! The room was small but perfect for a couple. A big positive for us is bedside plug points. The bed was very comfortable. The whole place was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised it is a 3 star as it really looks like a 4 star plus. Staff very friendly Breakfast same as previous reviews very basic but we had French toast and it was delicious. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would return.

Lovely hotel, staff friendly and welcoming. Special shout out to Archie, great member of staff, knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. Couple came in thinking they had a booking but they didn't and he went over and above to sort it for them. There is no lift so if you struggle with stairs ask for the ground or 1st floor. Rooms spacious, beds so comfy and shower was fab to.
