Central Hotel Tullamore

Only had bar food on Sunday afternoon. The friendly bar man greeted us and an asset to your business. The food was so nice tasty and plentiful and very good value for money. Only saw the bar decor and that was really nice, fresh, relaxing. Well done to management here for running a good show here. Noticed the afternoon tea menu and again good value. Will def call again.

Was a little worried about what to expect for the price we paid for 2 adults and a child on a Saturday night. We were more than pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by a very presentable young man who was friendly, helpful and efficient. We were delighted with a huge room with a king-size and a single bed. You could fit 2 more beds into that room it was so big. Room 220. Overlooking a park, nice and quiet for families. Everything was perfectly clean, hats off to housekeeping. We hadn't booked a table for dinner but decided to see if they could fit us in without notice. A wonderful staff member named Evelina promptly sorted a table for us and looked after us so well all evening. I have to commend her for her efficiency and friendliness, it makes all the difference. We only had the mains as we had a big lunch earlier but it was absolutely gorgeous and we barely finished it. I would recommend the cocktails, I had the Pina Colada, great price too. We had a lovely walk around the town after. Lots of shops and things to see and do. The hotel is situated in a nice quieter area for families but still super close to the livelier bars. Breakfast was unbelievable for what we paid for our stay. Loads to choose from, fruit, yoghurt, hot food etc all served by the nicest staff you could hope for. We took a chance on this hotel and I'm glad we did. We'll definitely go back. Thanks Central Hotel for a lovely stay

From the initial check in, to the restaraunt and breakfast, every staff member I met was friendly and professional. The room was spotless, warm, comfortable and quiet. Overall I was very happy and will definitely stay there again on my next visit to Tullamore. Also, the bar food was really good.

We stayed here for a night for our club Christmas party, from the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic, couldn't have been any better, extremely friendly and very very accommodating. Rooms were spacious, spotless clean. The hotel staff were short due to Covid-19 but they still were brilliant with us and the food was delicious too. Would highly recommend this place.

Very impressed with this hotel. This was really good value for money,a very clean hotel with large spotless rooms . Great location and close to everything Tullamore has to offer. The breakfast choice was excellent and with very good portions.The staff were very friendly and there was a very warm atmosphere in this value for money hotel.

3/5 is probably generous but times are tough for the hospitality industry. First the good - the room was lovely and big - nice to have so much space. Was also not too warm which can be a problem in Irish hotels when they ramp the heating up during winter. Weird placement of TV at a 90 degree angle to the bed but TV not that important and there was a table with chairs and a two-seater couch. We ate in the hotel for both nights of our stay. Food was mixed. Buttermilk chicken burger was nice, chunky fries were dry as a bone and difficult to eat. Had the chicken with mash and veg and that was very good. Breakfast was not great - white pudding as dry as the chunky fries and selection was poor - no fried eggs! If you don't want a cooked breakfast, the continental choice was poor - no pastries or cold meats just cereals, some fruit and a yoghurt/granola thing. While the staff were lovely the standard of service was not great. First night we got the bill wanting to head up to the room for a nightcap. Barman just disappeared so nobody left to take payment. We had to go to reception to actually pay for our meal (also had to query bill as dinner included not taken off at first). Second night we got an Irish coffee that was basically coffee - brought it back and was given a shot added to it but this is not how you make an Irish coffee. Partner had a strawberry daiquiri that looked and tasted like a strawberryade drink you might get in Lidl. We then asked for an espresso martini which we had been served the night before and which I saw a couple beside us have two of on the same night. However we were told that the person who could make the cocktails was gone home so they couldn't do it - wish they had told us this before they did our Irish coffee and daiquiri. At breakfast our tea and coffee was given to another couple and I had to go looking for it. If you are going to advertise cocktails then please make sure you can actually make them - otherwise don't include them. A lot of these issues may seem trivial on their own but added together over a two night stay did not make us want to stay here again. Added to that there is no actual car park, they use a private car park up the road that you get a phone code for. We were only told this when we got to the hotel - maybe send these details in the confirmation email or give advice to ring before you arrive for parking details.
