Mama Simona B&B - Ollantaytambo

Location is fantastic. Beautiful garden with hammocks next to the river. Tasty breakfast in the morning and very comfortable accommodation. The hosts are accommodating and very helpful. We loved our stay at mama Simone.

My friend and I stayed for a couple nights in a 4 bed dorm at Mama Simona's and loved it! And my friend is typically more the boutique hostel type (think Selina's). Mama Simona's is one of those rare accommodations where it is actually nicer in person than in the online photos. The dorm was bigger and cosier then it looked online, and the common area as well had a cozy, living room feel with lamps at night to give it nice, soft lighting. The kitchen is large, clean, and an inviting space in which to cook. Fernando, the owner/manager, is so lovely and helpful. And he has thought of everything in creating this hostel/B&B! There is free drinking water, bug repellent, umbrellas, and walking sticks for use. There is a little 'shop' with drinks, ramen noodles, snacks for reasonable prices. There are decks of cards, board games, and even a guitar. The bathrooms have shelves to put your toiletries on, as well as hooks, shower gel, soap, a bath towel, and even a hand towel (I have been backpacking for 4 months and this is one of the only places that provided a hand towel). The dorm room also had a full length mirror -- a rarity in most places you stay! In addition to lockers in the rooms, there are large lockers in the main area where you can store your bag for the day/night (for free) which is also a nice plus -- usually hostels have a storage room that still leaves your bag a bit at risk. The setting is also fantastic. Surrounded by trees and the river, but with a quick 10 min walk and you are in town. Finally, the price is extremely reasonable. I did a lot of research of accommodations options in Ollantaytambo and 100% made the right choice: can't beat the value for money. Definitely stay here!

This is my second stay at Mama Simona, this time I brought my daughter with me, and as expected, it was amazing! This will always be the place I will stay at when in Ollantaytambo. If you’re thinking about booking here, just do yourself a favor and do it !

I absolutely loved my stay at this hostel. The place looks so much better than the pictures and the views from it are just out of this world!!! The owner (or manager?) Was just the loveliest person ever, always eager to help and just a very kind person! I've extended my stay for one more night because I loved it so much! Internet worked great, the place is very quiet, just 10min walk from town, hot showers, comfortable beds and everything was super clean! Also this town is magical, worth staying at least a day before or after Machu Picchu, to avoid long transit.

Family owned and family managed, this is a super beautiful place were everybody makes you feel like home. Everybody is so warm and welcoming, we enjoyed so much sleeping with the sound of the water of the river next to the hotel/ The dining/kitchen facilities are just perfect, the rooms are very clean and the common areas are just beautiful. Super highly recommended, we will come back for sure!

We stayed 5 nights at Mama Simona, before we went to Machu Picchu. Fernando is a Superhost, very friendly and he recommended us very good routes for hiking , but also for dinner and place to visit. The place is nice and clean and we enjoyed the quiet garden and the little river close by. The hostal is a bit outside of Ollantaytambo but only 6 minutes walk to town.

As soon as you enter Mama Simona in Ollantaytambo, you are greeted by wonderful hosts and Fernando. Fernando explains everything with detail and is always glad to help with any recommendations or advice in how to get around the Valley. If you ever have some extra time, he’ll even share some great stories with you. Everything is clean and cozy and once you step out into the back patio you are greeted by majestic views! Rooms are extra clean, warm water works great. Breakfast had everything I needed to start my adventures. I am so glad I stumbled upon Mama Simona and Fernando and his wife. I’ll definitely be back!
