StaySky Suites I-Drive Orlando Near Universal

We recently stayed at this hotel, and the experience couldn't have been worse. Strange, rude staff who seem intent on making your life difficult. The rooms are dirty, the bedding is very soiled, there's a bad smell in the rooms, and there are cockroaches in the bathroom. Your vacation could turn into a nightmare.

The hotel is located really close to universal studios which is nice. The property is older and needs to be updated. Lots of updating/maintenance needed. Priced very well

I went with my kids to fun spots and i choose this hotel for the price and location. So when we got there the location was very good for kids fun places most of them are less then 15 minutes away as well as food places. the room was good size and clean with a mini kitchen if you need it the only issue we had is the heater wasn't working but the manager was nice and offer me an other room but was in 5th floor and far from elevator so in general was good stay and quiet for the price we paid thanks to staysky condo hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I just wanted to tell you a bit about some of the things my family and I experienced during our stay from 3/21-3/23/24. The beds and bathroom were clean. The air conditioner worked wonderfully. The furniture is quite scuffed from use and the cabinets had some water damage, but were clean.Fridge was clean as well. We did notice that there was one of those toilet refreshers hanging from the closet door behind the door entrance which seemed odd. The problems we encountered were focused around the roaches. I was getting ready the first morning there and a small roach was crawling around the bathroom floor. I killed and disposed of it. Later did my 3 year old find 2 dead roaches under the bathroom sink and on the kitchen counter. This raised concern because we had snacks/food in the kitchen. Before leaving for the day, I put all the food on the dining table in a tote that we used to transport it up to the room. When we were preparing to leave this morning to check out, there were baby roaches crawling on our items so we had to throw away a lot of the food as we weren’t sure what opened bags they crawled into. Also a pipe had burst during the early morning hours in another room on our floor causing us to lose water because it had flooded into the hallway. We had no way of showering, flushing toilets, or brushing our teeth without bottled water we brought. I didn’t want to mention roaches upon checkout because other guests were nearby and I didn’t want to cause a stir. The front desk person also seemed overwhelmed with whatever the water issue was and said “goodbye have a nice day.” Upon returning home I noticed that the tote with the food that was sitting on the counter and dining table smelled of bug spray, which was alarming because we possibly touched/ingested those chemicals while eating our snacks and maneuvering around the room. I’m not sure what needs to be done better to mitigate this but we were disappointed with the roach situation. We don’t mind not having the fanciest/updated furniture, but with two young children and the possible bug spray contamination, we won’t be returning even with the great location.

9 day stay. Great location, great building. The apartment was good, we had kitchen to cook, couch to lay and watch TV and bathtub to relax BUT the carpet NEEDS a professional clean. We kinda cringe the carpet and the couch. We put sheets over it to use. The bed has to be replaced, big hole in the middle and the tub got mold on like the second day. But we had a good experience there. Really friendly staff, great pool. Walk to McDonalds, Ihop and like 4 min drive to Universal. If this place does the maintenance needed it will be like 6 stars. We felt very safe in the building. It's a older building but no bad smells nothing. Elevator worked great, clean pool and reception. It's a great place to stay as a family.

I did like that it was close to a area where I could caught a bus to the conviction Center . I was very up set we didn't every have any hot water. I had to take lite warm shower for 4 day:((. The Elevator is super slow :(( I stay here back in 2019 and they had a great breakfast .Nov 2023 still no Breakfast even the hotel next to them do have free breakfast.. I want stay here because know at the front desk could tell when I would get hot water. They said sorry the day I check out Nov 17, 2023

My family and I loved so much this hotel and will now be our favorite every time we visit Orlando.

Not gonna lie, given the reviews, I was really nervous about this one BUT it turned out to be just perfect for us! We stayed in Room 320, if that makes a difference, which is a suite with a King size bed and a sofa with a pullout bed for the kid. Given that we had expected to see roaches and encountered none, we were pretty stoked (I know, I know) and quickly became extremely grateful for the amount of space we had, the clean sheets and towels, the kitchen, etc. In fact, we were always happy to return to our suite after a long day in/around Orlando! (We also met up with a friend who stayed at a different hotel; he mentioned seeing a roach in his room so I became even more grateful for our place.) About our suite: - SMELL: There was an "old home smell" when we first walked in but it dissipated as we ran the AC. I never noticed it again upon returning to our suite on following days. - CLEANLINESS: It was clean, except for the carpet which could have used another pass with the vacuum cleaner. There were loose threads here and there, and I stepped on a small heart-shaped piece of plastic on our first night, but nothing else after that. - FURNITURE: Upgrades would be nice but, honestly, I've seen way, WAY worse. The drawers were clean and easy to open/close, and had no smell. I had no qualms about transferring our clothes from our suitcase into the dressers, unlike various places we've stayed in in Lincoln, New Hampshire. - SOFA/PULL OUT BED: The mattress wasn't amazing but it was decent. I fully expected the extra sheets, blanket, and pillow from the closet to be smelly but they were absolutely not! One more thing over Lincoln, NH. - SHEETS + PILLOWS: Clean and comfortable. Zero complaints there! - BATHROOM: Pretty standard. There were two tubes of shampoo and no conditioner, something that was flagged by another reviewer (thank you!) so I brought our own. The hairdryer worked. There was extra toilet paper. The sink drained quite slowly, but that was it. - KITCHEN: Had all the basics, cleanest fridge ever, great to have so you don't eat out every day. At the very least, you can bring back leftovers. They pick up the trash every day once/day between 8 am and 10 am. For food trash outside those hours, I put them in a bag that I placed in the freezer. - AC: It worked perfectly. I wear ear plugs to sleep so the low rumbling sound didn't bother me. Other family members slept fine. Other considerations: - It's a great location. It's just a couple miles from Universal, it's within walking distance to a whole bunch of restaurants and attractions, and not far from the airport. It's also very quiet. - The hotel website claims that "staySky Suites I-Drive Orlando now offers round-trip shuttle service to Walt Disney World® Resort and Universal Orlando!" Don't believe that last part. Just use Uber to Universal. On the way back, if you're leaving at the same time as everyone else, take one of the taxis already onsite (same place as Uber pickup/dropoff). -
