This is our 2nd time at the Portofino, our third or fourth time staying at Universal. I was once again so impressed with the resort. Our room was comfortable, with a table and 2 chairs, a small couch (which I believe may also have been a bed), a mini fridge that kept our drinks deliciously cold, a shower with plentiful hot water and great a/c. Our hours varied as some of our family went to the park early, some later, and somehow when we returned, our room was was always refreshed and waiting for us. There was never more than a 10 minute wait for a water taxi, the pools never seemed crowded, the water was always cool and pleasant, plus there are 3 to choose from. Of course having the express pass included in the price of your room is a wonderful perk, but I feel what really sets Universal apart, not only at the Portofino but also at the parks etc is their staff. They are unfailingly friendly and pro-actively helpful. When we had pizza and put our pizza boxes in the hall so that we wouldn't have to smell pizza all night, I opened the door an hour later and the boxes were gone. I just feel like they don't miss a trick. Then my daughter left her plushie in the room when we checked out. I called a few days later and they were so kind, they didn't make me feel like I was bothering them, the people I spoke with had the same caring and cheerful tone as when we were onsite. And they shipped it back to us quickly and free of charge!
