Thon Hotel Slottsparken

My husband and i came to spend 1 night with our 18 year old. The reception class were exceptionally friendly and welcoming plus helpful. The room was clean and hadbwhat we needed. The double sofa bed was comfortable. When we went down for breakfast we were very impressed with the variety of options on offer. Staff were friendly. Would most definitely stay in this chain hotel again The hotel was about a 20 minute walk to the centre and a 5 minute walk tops to an area with restaurants. All in all we have had an amazing 2 days in Oslo.

Great location, excellent buffet breakfast anx friendly staff

Room was spacious and had a nice little kitchen area hidden away. Bathroom with underfloor heating was a bonus. Walls and floorboards can appear to be quite thin, meaning you can hear a lot of other people and heavy walking. This was quite irritating the first night as we were unfortunate to have someone constantly walking around all night! Breakfast area is clean. Has ample food choices, but only one 2 slice toaster - which was bizarre, and causing delays/queues. The coffee machine was very difficult to use, and there wasn’t many servers offering coffee - so this experience was not the greatest.

The room itself was incredibly small and had very very poor sound proofing. It was as if there were elephants in the room above us and the loud, intermittent noise from the fridge is very irritating. The bed is very small and the pillows are even smaller so very uncomfortable. When asked for another pillow (on all 4 nights) I was told that the hotel was full and they didn't have any spare or that the cleaners cupboard was locked and nobody else had a key. The beddings or towels were not changed during our 4 night stay. The floor wasn't cleaned once (It was very snowy outside so was a real mess). The bathroom is not very pretty and the fact the shower screen doesn't reach the floor means the room can get quite wet. I also think the raised bathroom floor is a bit of a trip hazard. The free toiletries were one 'all over shampoo'. Overall I find the room incredibly small and very basic and I am really disappointed. Fortunately breakfast was quite nice and varied, although the hot food options were not very warm. It is also disappointing that there isn't a nice seating or bar area to sit in too. Finally on a personal note, I did send an email via stating it was my birthday (my partner and I usually go away every year) and they didn't even leave a note mentioning this. I tried to mention my issues to reception several times but was told there was nothing that could be done as no manager was available. I tried to call down and had to wait 30 mins on the hotel phone.

Great ! Awesome breakfast! And what i love about it they let us in into our room around 12 noon.. So we have a relaxing time. An and a kitchen too. walking distance to city center
