It was great, and there were a lot of Japanese locals there! The hotel manager spoke good English, so communication was easy! I loved the cozy a**osphere, especially the breakfast was delicious haha. The view was crazy haha. It's right in front of the Otaru Canal, so I asked for a place with a good view and they gave me a good one!
I plan to visit again next time.

Hotel was really convenient with access to the main attractions, restaurants within 5 - 10mins walking distance. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Note though there are charges for parking and would have given them a 5 on service if they were a bit more flexible on check in time.

Hotel is old but able to see the effort of refurbishment. However, there are dirt mark in the toilet and sink. Possibly older design of toilet with a big step from living area to toilet, will be hard for elderly to mobilise in the room.
In terms of public area, they are generally clean and neat. The top floor public bath is relatively small with the number of guests in hotel. If the window shade could be removed, it will be a great view from the bath to the river canal.

Great location . Staff was extremely helpful and patient . As I wasn’t familiar with how the public parking works, he took time to accompany me to the car park and explain.

Because there was a room available, I was able to get a room facing the canal rather than the city side.
The entire hotel was clean, and the staff were very friendly.
I wish the open-air bath had been a little more spacious, but
it was a hotel I'd like to stay at again.
