This was a very unique, clean, comfortable, fun place to stay while visiting Amsterdam. Any concerns about quiet or privacy with the caravans were quickly put to bed. We did not hear our neighbours and we could socialise or keep to ourselves as desired. The arrangement allowed for us to sit in front of the caravan with angles that allowed a view of the space but also not overlooking neighbours. The bed was very clean and comfortable! Each caravan had unique decor. The lobby area, VIP lounge, and the ‘camping’ area were clean and comfortable and each held things to do. Lovely vintage and nostalgic camp games and books to borrow. A big breakfast table and comfortable chairs, and several picnic tables. Real sand at the beach houses. A tree swing, a hammock and beanbags. The bathroom area was very clean and private despite being a shared area. Each toilet stall and/or toilet stall was floor to ceiling enclosed and private and kept very tidy and staff were frequently cleaning the area. In the lobby there were maps and discount cards for planning where to go. Fridges were available both for food/drinks we brought, and for a stocked fridge with beer, wine, soda. A very good espresso machine and snacks and dishes to use. Staff were friendly and helpful. This unique accommodation is in a quiet area and a short walk to Metro and Train. Although there were not many restaurants etc nearby to walk to- a Metro pass is inexpensive and we had no difficulty getting to all the sights within minutes. Bikes are of course an option too. Whenever we were tired, or if it was raining or hot outside, this place was like a little oasis with plenty to do until it was time to explore again. I would recommend for couples, families, singles, or groups.

Loopbrug

Joy Hotel

Bijlmermeer Amsterdam|1.99km from Loopbrug
We chose this hotel because it was a Metro stop from the Ziggo Dome (also of AFAS and the Ajax Stadium), or a walk of around 15/20 minutes. Also it is nearby a train station that takes you to the airport. The area doesn't have a lot of interesting things (lacks restaurants and shops) and unless you need to be in this district, it is not close to the centre. It is also quite dark and lonely at night. However, it was the cheapest hotel that seemed modern/clean in this area, so we went for it. Our room was a twin, had a decent size, a desk, TV, a fridge, a kettle (but just tea available, for coffee you had to pay downstairs), a safe, enough plugs (and close to the beds) and hangers for the clothes. The toilet was quite clean and had a good shower. Also toiletries were included, towels and a hair dryer. Breakfast was 15 Euro per person, so not cheap, but at least it was a buffet, so you had lots of pastries and also bacon, eggs, sausages, cold meats, cheeses, juices, coffee, tea and a lot of different breads. You couldn't find any place for breakfast nearby anyway. Staff was nice and helpful at the reception desk, no problems. There were construction works outside that started pretty early, so I recommend bringing some earplugs. Also, there was a “weird” note at the lift that warned the customers against bringing *********** to the hotel and noting that every guest had to be identified before going upstairs. In summary, not so cheap, but cheaper than most in the area, quite clean and modern.

We arrived Friday night and someone came into our room at 4am.. I dressed and went to reception and told staff and asked what was going on. They said it was them who entered room as computer does not work at night and she forgot to tick off the paper work so thought room was empty. So showed guests to it. We had only checked in a few hours earlier! I asked to see a manager as she did not appreciate how scary this was and was confrontational. This is when she began to swear, shout and threaten to put me out of the hotel as she had ”the power”. Two other guests came in and she then began to swear and shout at them and told them she would put them out and she w ould just put all the english people out! I reported to manager in the morning and requested refund as I did not feel safe or welcome but was told only head office could make decision and we're closed until Monday so had to stay. Hair dryer did not work and no replacement available so I had to ask to go to another room but it didn't work there either so after third room it did but there was no concern that I was getting ready for a wedding. Manager on Monday was not interested and did not think there was anything wrong in what her staff did. Disgusting hotel, rude staff and a yoghurt lid lay on the hallway floor for two days before anyone removed it.
