Old Bank Hotel

The reception staff are especially friendly and helpful. For example, Qasim came to our room the first day to explain and show us the safely locker, which operated differently than ones we've used in Canada (and it was easy once he showed us). He also spent time helping my visiting sister by showing her on the reception's screen, how to drive to her own hotel when she was ready to leave. Very knowledgeable and personable. We also enjoyed professional service from Amey, Jasmin, Marta, Katya (sp?) and others on reception. The room was clean and pleasant with a view of the University Church. The Quod restaurant served delicious food. My one negative comment is that the restaurant is very noisy both at lunch and dinner times - I'd suggest some way of partitioning some areas so that the conversation doesn't carry so easily. We and our visiting relatives had to raise our voices all the time to be heard by each other during our meals. We didn't experience that problem at The Ivy (a large restaurant nearby), which has wide, rectangular pillars in various places. The Quod staff cannot be blamed for this, but the noise does bounce and carry. It's the reason I'd didn't add a 5-star, just a 4 - because it was difficult at times to carry on a proper conversation. However, the hotel itself is well situated for a short walk in various directions to university buildings, museums, botanical gardens and much more. I am glad we chose this hotel. It is a nice hotel.

Stated here from a family member graduation. Excellent facilities; comfortable bed; hot shower; brightly lit room (hotel rooms are generally too dark); and very yummy cookies. However; absolutely no mobile phone service (not their fault); and very poor internet - which you constantly had to reconnect to!!!

Decently sized room and a comfortable bed. The hotel is in a prime part of down, with easy walking distances to Bodleian Library, New College, Christchurch, and more. Staff was friendly and attentive and the restaurant downstairs, Quod, is the perfect spot for tea or even dinner.

Fantastic hotel !! Stayed for 2 nights for my husband's 60th birthday. We had a classic double room which was spacious with a large double bed , mini bar , tea/ coffee, hair dryer and plenty of storage for cases and hanging space for clothes. Absolutely spotlessly clean , lovely bathroom with big fluffy towels. Fresh milk and a large bottle of still water were left each day , and a suprise on my husband's birthday when we returned from our day out to a selection of cakes which was lovely. The food was good and the service from all the staff was exceptional. Easy to walk in to town and also great having secure reserved parking at the hotel . We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again , well done to The old bank you're doing a great job,!

Wow. What a lovely hotel. Special mention to the team (especially Catia, who looked after us throughout our stay, apologies if it's the incorrect spelling!!) on the front desk, who answered all our questions about parking/breakfast/anything in between and seemed to be able to do 1000 things at once. Really comfortable rooms, excellent location, and such a warm atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again the next time we're in Oxford :)
