We stayed here for the weekend and overall it was a nice hotel but a couple of issues let it down for us. The parking is great and this is an ideal base for the city centre, we walked a couple of times and also caught the bus which stops almost directly outside. It’s a cute boutique hotel and staff were all very pleasant. The rooms were lovely, note I say rooms. We were given the first room on the ground floor just down from reception and it was all very nicely done and shower room looked new. Unfortunately there was no sound proofing whatsoever. I think we were above the gym and perhaps next to a staff room and we could hear everything. We were woken at 6am due to loud talking and laughter which was the other side of the wall to us, right by our heads, I’m guessing this was the staff arriving for work. I spoke to reception who were apologetic and offered to move us which we accepted. The room we were given was also on the ground floor but at the end and we were assured it was quiet. Unfortunately this was not to be. Again, the room was lovely, bathroom suite huge and all looked newly done. But we could hear talking from the room above and as they sounds of footsteps as they walked about. My husband was also woken in the early hours by someone in the corridor outside talking on their phone, night security I suspect. We had tea/coffee facilities in both rooms. Chocolates had obviously been sat there for sometime as they had gone white so needless to say we didn’t eat them. There was no real bar to speak of either. Breakfast however was lovely, plenty of choice and tasty, dining area felt a bit dusty and musty and in need of a good clean though. All in all, a cheerful place but not sure I would return, a good nights sleep is important for us.
