i booked 17 nights at Waterfront given that I was under the impression that this would be a magical and unforgettable place on Paje, at least that was the hype that I got from Instagram. However, the Waterfront is average and satisfactory at best, and certainly not worth the US120 that we need nightly. Firstly, the place, which has apparently been around since 2006, is clearly showing its age. The bathroom facilities are small and spartan, and certainly was a bit of a shock when we first checked into the room. Pros: 1- Great location where KiteCenter Zanzibar and Mr Kahawa is, nice and central when you are walking back from parties along Paje. 2- Water dispensers to fill up your bottles. And this is about the only Pro that I can think of for the place. Below are the numerous cons: 1- A very mediocre breakfast (1 main dish like a pancake/avocado toast, spanish omelete) of lilliputian portions. I always had to order another dish (paid) from Mr Kahawa to supplement. 2- Inconsistent room service. I would often have to bug the stuff to give us two bath towels despite the fact that it was clear that there were two guests in the room. 3- Spartan and aging toilet facilites. 4- If you are unlucky to be put in the rooms at the back of the center (away from the beach and the pool), it is dark and mosquito infested. We werent unlucky in this regard but we heard complaints from other guests. 5- Average pool (the pool at Aluna was better). However, because of its open and central location, the hotel did not bother to check whether outside guests were using the pool or not, making it overcrowded most times from 10am to evening. Tl;dr: Great location but worth it only if you were paying 60-70 bucks a night. at around 110-130 a night, absolutely not worth it.
