Shadzz Motel

Picked this place as it was significantly cheaper than others this close to town. The male who checked us in was not good, unfriendly, didn't tell us where our room was, stared us from upstairs as we went out which was creepy. The room was really clean (apart from plastic left on the floor). The 2nd day service was terrible. No beds made, no soap replaced,no face cloths replaced, used towel not taken, left cleaning spray bottle in our bathroom. Appreciated they did our dishes which we didn't expect them to. The file about the room was sososo sticky the pages inside stuck together. The shower pressure was terrible! Nice hot water though. Loved that we could fit five of us in one room! Three singles in the bedroom & a queen in the lounge. Comfortable beds & bedding but had to ring for another blanket (& soap) as everyone was cold with the sheet & super thin duvet only. No electric blankets provided. Super comfy couch. Despite other reviews re this we found it really quiet & it had good black out curtains. Little touches like matching light bulbs the same shade & color & repairing the bedside unit are cheap & make a big difference. Wouldn't not recommend, it's well priced, a good location just let down by service in all areas.

No breakfast, there is a large supermarket nearby for breakfast, it is delicious. Suitable for the whole family, the location is good, the motel must have a parking lot, the boss is very warm and caring!
Aspree Motor Inn

After moving to Wellington and passing through Palmerston North, I planned to stop for a rest. This motel was clean and quiet. I also caught up with the weekend market the next day and experienced the local customs. It was good. There was a Chinese restaurant in front of the hotel. I liked it. Friends who like Chinese food can try it. Walking along the road in front of the hotel to the Central District, I met an international student from Shanghai. We had a friendly chat and recommended a Korean restaurant in the Central District to me. Unfortunately, reservations were required, so I checked in to a Japanese restaurant not far away, but failed.
Distinction Palmerston North Hotel & Conference Centre

Not too far from the city centre. Old-fashioned hotel, colonial style, very clean, the waiter is also different from the general kiwi's easygoing, more professional sense of the upper class. On Saturday, I caught up with the downstairs cocktail party, and the various classic cars at the door roared for a while. The hotel's western restaurant is good. There is no anti-slip mat in the bathroom, leaving a note that the hotel hopes to add to future customers.
Rose City Motel

I can’t comment on the rooms because Henry at Rose City Motel cancelled our booking, a booking that I had made 5 months previously for a weekend where an annual event sees accommodation across Palmerston North fully booked out, to rent out the Superior 2 Bedroom Apartment I had booked for my family to someone else (presumably at a higher price). It seems there is not much you can do when your booking is not honoured and the motel has not retained the money you were paying so I wanted to share this in case you also are going to rely on a booking at this motel on a night when no other accommodation will be available near to the time.
Copthorne Hotel Palmerston North

Very pleasant surprise to find consistently lovely and helpful staff, right from reservations team to checkout. Also Very happy to find our room was so well appointed too. Heater, cooling unit and windows that open. Great morning sun (odd numbered room). Large tiled shower and marble effect bathroom countertop. Minibar, nice looking and reasonably priced menus plus room service. Highly recommended
