I am writing this review as my partner wrote another one completely accurate in April and just today got a response from the restaurant adding even more lies to the story. First of all I am no “escort”, I’m the partner of the person who wrote the review and as we wrote it together I must point out there wasn’t any kind of “miscommunication” and everything happened as she stated in her review. Second of all, the money was not the issue. My partner was the one who gave them the total amount of the bill without complaint, just so we could leave from that unwelcoming place, while I was still trying to have a conversation in Greek with the manager to clarify about why we had that charge of 16€ for “FOOD”, which we didn’t order. So once again they lied, this time about us not paying the bill. Third of all, I NEVER had a conversation with the manager accepting any other salad, I was only told that the mixed grill was going to take 20 minutes at the same time they brought the salad and bread, which in the menu was stated that it was included in the mixed grill, so we didn’t question it and there was no way for us to know they were bringing “gifts” (that we were then charged for obviously) or any other different or bigger amount of food (as they say) instead of what was included in the mixed grill that we ordered. Another lie they said in the reply to my partner’s review is that we were offered other extra stuff… For the record: we weren’t offered that extra halloumi that they mention nor they offered any “desserts on the house”. We are shocked and literally can’t understand why they keep on adding more and more lies to the story when nothing of that actually happened. It was a mistake from their side to not inform us about what they were bringing if it wasn’t what we ordered and then play fools when we asked what was the charge of the 16 extra euros for. We paid the amount and we never even mentioned we were not going to pay for it so we’re a bit confused of why and how they have the guts to lie also about that in the reply. We’re telling the story how it happened just for other people to not make the same mistake as us and also for the establishment to improve on this issue of not informing about what they are or are not serving as we know it has happened to more people and we’re not the only ones. We’re literally not asking for any compensation now and we also didn’t ask for it when it happened. If they think the problem was the money: it wasn’t. Our problem was never about how much to pay but what we were paying for and how they were (and still are) completely dishonest with the situation and with the way they tried to get more money from us without any logical explanation. But anyway we already reported them when it happened to the pertinent consumer and tourism department and from our side everything is clear. The only ones damaging the image of their so old and recognized business are themselves.

Stayed here for three nights during a brief stay in Paphos and wasn’t disappointed. I was travelling a little before the main holiday season in Cyprus kicks off so the hotel price was very reasonable. It’s an old school kind of place compared to the bigger, flashier hotels down by the coast but that’s not a bad thing. I found the room clean, spacious and comfortable, with nice atmospheric lighting. There was a bit of noise from the surrounding streets at night but as the hotel is in the town centre this is to be expected and it didn’t spoil my stay. Despite the hotel being relatively old it has all the modern conveniences including WiFi and air conditioning. The bathroom shower was great too. A particular highlight was the morning breakfast. The food was excellent with a decent selection and you can eat it in a pleasant courtyard which is full of trees and plants. So, all round a perfect experience and I’d be happy to stay here again.

Very bad experience. The food of the Taverna was good and our bill was supposed to be 33.50€ for a mixed grill (23.50€) and two glasses of wine (10€). But for our surprise when the bill came it was actually 49.50€. We kindly asked the manager why we got charged 16€ more for something that said “FOOD” in the bill and he said it was for the salad we ate. I asked him why it didn’t say “SALAD” in the bill instead of “FOOD” and he said it’s just not in the system. Anyway the mixed grill we ordered already came with sauce, bread and salad so we told him we didn’t order an extra salad, so he proceeded to start making up stories about how I personally ordered a bigger salad when he supposedly told me the one included in the mixed grill was small (which they never served us by the way), but this conversation never happened as my partner made the order as he speaks Greek and I don’t. He was having a discussion about the bill with my partner in Greek and when I tried to talk to him and explain that I didn’t order this salad he proceeded to cut me off and say “We’re talking in Greek” and didn’t let me speak. He insisted we had to pay for what we ate and obviously this was not the issue, we were ready to pay this scam but we wanted to know what exactly we were paying. Even if it was true and he gave us a bigger salad (just because he wanted) isn’t 16€ too much for a basic greek salad? Well, who knows. Avoid this place or be very careful with this man if you go.

I booked, via eDreams, a standard double room at this hotel for 2 nights as a thank-you gift for a family member. I liked the pictures on Kiniras website and the many positive reviews, and I looked forward to checking in. When we arrived, it was a shock. Instead of getting a airy "standard double room" with 2 beds and a balcony as per the photos on Kiniras website, we got a very tiny room with only one bed, no balcony (just a small window on a refuse/storage area), very dim with no real natural light, no working toilet (flushing was only possible after "pumping" with the cistern handle), musty smell, damp stains on the bathroom ceiling, and not enough floor space to even open a cabin luggage. When we sat on the matrass, it felt so uncomfortable. I could not even imagine laying an entire night on it. I was ashamed to bring my niece there. I immediately reported to the staff downstairs to say that this was not what I booked. An uncooperative lady told me to contact the owner myself. I had to insist *she* phones him, and not me. Over the phone, the owner said no change was possible. He kept asking what our nationalities were. He asked at least three times. I failed to see the relevance of this. After waiting more than an hour for the owner to show up, it was clear we would never get the advertised room or something vaguely equivalent. As we only stayed 2 nights in Paphos, we did not want to waste any further time on this. So, we handed back the keys and found another hotel nearby. The hotel refuses to refund me. I fail to understand how this can be a 3-star hotel. Perhaps a couple of rooms are indeed like on the pictures of the website, but there are also rooms that are well below the expected standard. I found the staff and owner quite unpleasant. Perhaps the staff is tired of dealing with unhappy customers... When we handed back the keys, the owner was busy dealing with two unhappy French clients.

A wonderful, traditional hotel in an excellent position of the old town. George the owner is a wonderful character. Super helpful re local places to go. The staff were always polite and helpful to. The evening meals are authentic and tasty...the dining room is traditionally quaint. Breakfast has a good range of food...only one thing. if a coffee lover..as we are... there are some good local cafes.
