SO/ Paris Hotel

Paris|1.72km from Speos Photo Video Cgi School
I booked my wife to stay at this hotel recently and she loved it. I needed to be in Paris, and decided to try it myself. It is now the place I will always try to stay in Paris. The great thing about this hotel is that it is a perfect trade-off of price/location. In September, we stayed at the Faubourg Sofitel (also Accor) which is about as 'Prime Paris' as you can get. Right next door to the Elysee. For that, you got a hotel which was about 50% more expensive, for 40% less product. SO/ is central, but a bit on the edge, and for me that is worth every cent of the tradeoff. Additionally, the tradeoff places you right next to the river with views of Paris that are sensational. And anyway you are 5 mins on foot to the Places des Voges - this is still beautiful Paris. Other big pluses: - food quality is really high in Bonnie. We went for dinner and breakfast. Both great. Dinner buzzy, and possible the most beautiful breakfast room views imaginable. In summer.... wow. - rooms are extremely high quality fit out. Bed is incredibly comfortable. Just be aware that there is now bath or desk even if a room which could accomodate it - staff are charming and very well trained. - access by car is easy. Very few people will be driving (but I was). Access is super simple, and the valet parking v reasonable (about Eur40) - I didn't use the gym or pool, but they looked amazing by Paris hotel standards - I loved the design concept of the hotel. It is young and modern without being like a W (which I don't like... trying too hard) I strongly recommend. Thank you SO/ Paris.

Crowne Plaza Paris République, an IHG Hotel

Paris|2.21km from Speos Photo Video Cgi School
We stayed six nights at this fairly spartan property that was fitted with basic room attributes including a small refrigerator, a hair dryer and a tiny safe. We requested a coffee maker and received a hot pot with instant coffee. Getting an iron in the room proved a bit of an ordeal. The room was clean and the beds were quite good. Hotel staff was uniformly convivial, accommodating and helpful with exception of an encounter with the night manager (more on that later). Only one low voltage outlet in the bathroom was provided that could power an electric razor. My daughter brought a dual-voltage curling iron and hair straightener that could not be used in the bathroom due to lack of an electrical outlet. Staff ultimately provided an extension cord to be strung from the nightstand, and over the bed that my daughter was able to use to reach a wall mirror in the bedroom. We had the misfortune to be at the property during the annual Pride celebration at Place de la Republique directly in front of the hotel. My wife has mobility issues and we had to push through hundreds of drunken celebrants to get to the only entrance to the hotel. Scary stuff getting pushed along by a mob where my wife could have fallen and been trampled. I understand the Pride celebration is a public event but its a scheduled event that the hotel could have alerted clients to and made provisions to have opened a guarded entrance on the backside of the building away from the inebriated mob. With an early morning departure to the airport, I went to the desk the night before to check out so we could leave quickly the following morning. The front desk clerk advised that the hotel had my card on file and my e-mail address so they would send me the bill thereafter with nothing additionally to be done the next morning - just drop the key and run. As we were leaving early the next morning the night manager told me that I couldn't leave because I hadn't settled my bill. He inferred I was skipping out without paying the bill. I recounted the discussion I had the previous night and he repeated firmly that the bill needed to be closed out before we could leave. It was an uncomfortable encounter that was unnecessary. Somebody needs training here and its not the client. In summary, I'd say this property lacked many expected elements for the price point and as such could only describe it as providing moderate value. The lack of provisions to accommodate client access during the Pride celebration and the check-out snafu made it seem that they were somehow new to the game.

I approached the receptionist on my way back from my activities and inform him there was no fan in my room as I had really suffered the night before, no fans in the room ,just one window , even when left opened no air/ breeze came in at all. Anyways I approached the receptionist and informed him there was no fan in my room: Firstly his response was : there aren’t fans in the rooms and asked me to correct myself by requesting for a fan instead( this is a lie to start with , I have 2 rooms booked (my friend & I) and the second room has a fan ) . I immediately corrected myself and requested for a fan instead, he kept on going about how I said it like the fans were readily in the room but I needed to requested them instead. He made me request for a fan 3 times all along I was patient with him and I obliged, but he kept talking so I banged the key on the desk as I was out of patience after requesting 3 whole times already!! For the 4th time!!! Anyways the man called “Yanis”refused to give me a fan because i banged the key on the desk, asking me to speak to him with respect, I reminded him that I have asked 3 times already but he won’t stop yapping on how I should have phrased or worded my English.. At this point my sister had to intervene, she insisted that I had been polite all along , I mean how do you make a guest request for an item 3 times whilst you sit on your high horse / chair demanding respect and telling me how to phrase my words.. I asked if I could speak to a manager ( clearly there wasn’t one) which he confirmed there wasn’t one . He then told us to leave the reception area as he was done talking to us.. I suppose he was able to get away with this because we were both females, I doubt he would do this if it was a male customer.

The pros: The shower was nice. Room space is decent. The area is amazing, theres a microwave downstairs. The cons: This place is alright, i can imagine when it first opened it was cute and interesting. But if im completely honest its just ok, the room space is big for paris standards, my room looked into the court which was nice the shower being inside the room is different, who ever you stay with you have to be super comfortable with them as you will defo see them naked lol the toilet being seperate was odd. Would have prefered it together, but i guess its part of the aesthetic. I have to say the reception staff were nice a bit abrupt at times but they dont match the aesthetic of the hotel. They were all nice dont get me wrong but it seemed like security and reception was combined. No kettle or coffee machine in the room, the free water was only refilled once. One of the cleaners was trying to chat me up.. which was uncomfortable. The air con was hard to work out, the vent dropped in my toilet and it left a bit of a mess. No one helped until i mentioned it a second or third time i guess the staff who could help wasnt available at night and staffing seemed limited in the day. Personally if you have more money stay at a better hotel in the area but if your on a budgets its not bad. It wasnt horrible but it wasnt amazing either it was just ok. Oh and i didnt really like reception questioning who one of my partners was to me just because he was a big black man that made me feel uncomfortable because im obviously staying there and he was MY guest not a random, i shouldnt have to explain who someone is if im clearly with them. Would i stay there again.. maybe but not first choice.

Pros: The location of the hotel is very good. It is about 5 minutes walk from the subway station. It is also quiet and safe. The hotel has an underground parking lot and a swimming pool. Disadvantages: 1. Breakfast is too single, no change, if a good friend in English, it is recommended to go to the street cafe for breakfast. 2. The room is small. 3. Hotel service in general, no one at the door to help with the suitcase.

Deskopolitan House

Although it is far from the tourist attractions, the room is spacious and comfortable, and there is induction, so you can cook. Basically, pasta noodles, olive oil, salt, pepper, etc. were provided, so you could make a snack. I booked a room with a terrace on the first floor, but there was a table between the restaurant and the room, so it wasn't a personal space, but the garden was well decorated, so there was no inconvenience to use. Bread and juice were provided every morning and coffee was also provided at the front desk so I could enjoy the breakfast comfortably. However, the entrance to the first floor room is made of glass, so if you don't hit the curtains, you can see the passers-by inside the room. After cleaning, I opened the curtain and went and the luggage in the room looked as it was ... Still, the facilities were clean, and I had a pleasant experience because I was able to prepare a light meal and eat in the courtyard and drink coffee in the public space to see my personal work. I want to stay again if I go to Paris next time.

Although Paris went on strike, I accepted the warm hospitality of the younger sister in this hotel. There was no Chinese order. We also included a daily meal. The younger sister patiently introduced us to the traffic situation of the strike in Paris. We asked us at the airport Arrived safely? Warm heart and the room is a big hotel in Paris. I will stay next time.

Very small but well organized, cozy and clean room, with everything you need. Special furniture and lighting. Recently renovated building. Breakfast self service but plentiful and of good quality. Friendly and helpful service. Quiet area and not too far from some places of historical interest.
