Whilst the building itself was impressive, the Music Room was not. For the price I expected some luxury awaiting me, but not to be. It was very cold outside and understandably the old building took a while to warm up, but the furnishings and general condition was old, tired and dreary. The bed was very hard, I didn’t sleep well, pillows hard and stale. No extra blankets provided even though the dead of winter. The bathroom is 4 rooms away from the bedroom, so the midnight rush was very cold indeed. Breakfast was provided, bacon, eggs, bread for toast, DIY which was fine, and some complimentary port on a tray, thank you. Parking is on the street, not secure. We stayed in another b&b 2 nights previously at a much cheaper rate and were blown away by the luxury and attention to detail. So Old Parkes Convent you need to lift your game, or drop your price.
