This is on the way there. When we arrived we meet friendly staff and a nice clean setting, the room was spacious and a fabulous view of the marina, not to forget the tutukaka Twilight market with great atmosphere and sounds. It was a Hot day so unfortunately when we got back to our room that also was very hot and there was no air conditioning we did have great stacker windows and a fan in the ceiling but it was no match for the warmth we had that day. So going to the premises outdoor swimming pool seems like the logical thing to do upon arriving we found a great pool salt water chlorine and a beautiful Pahutakawa just waiting to burst into flower. Couldn’t put to put much wrong with this place I would guarantee it to friends thanks guys,great stay

Felt like I was in Fiji but colder! Great resort, rooms are spacious and comfortable and the restaurant food is fantastic. We also used a conference room, which was suitable for our purposes and the catering was great.

After a day of hitting some art spots at Whangārei, our family of two adults and a teen pulled into the Kauri Villas late in the afternoon. The first thing you'll notice is the amazing view of the coast. We were greeted by out hosts Andrea and Mike, and shown to our cottage, which was cute and clean. It was a Monday, and our hosts informed us that most of the local restaurants would be closed (it was also the off-season). Luckily, the cottage had a fully equipped kitchen, and the nearest grocery was 2 minutes down the road. The cottage even had a dishwasher, a real gem for any traveling cooks. That evening we helped ourselves to a hot tub/ jacuzzi and played some billiards in their ”gameroom,” which is really more of a beautiful bespoke barn with a sound system, nice lighting, and everything from ping pong to video games. We had a perfect family game night without leaving the property. We started off our first morning with a great breakfast cooked by Mike, and then used the villas as our home-base for hitting some of the great local hikes. On our second and last morning, we mentioned to Mike our fondness for the sheep that we could see from our bedroom window, and Mike offered to let us hand-feed them! As animal lovers, it as a treat to hand feed some adorable sheep that put up with us petting them. As travelers from the USA, a return to the Kauri Villas is probably not in the cards any time soon, but I would highly recommend this spot for both a quick vacation, or special event like a wedding where you want a fantastic location to celebrate. The campsite is brilliant. We had 4days it was so well maintained and clean, the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Being right on the beach makes it extra special and we had lovely weather. We would highly recommend the site to anyone and would definitely return in the future if back in New Zealand. Was an ok stay for one night slightly higher pricing and the mattresses were a bit past so not a good sleep unfortunately then we were rudely awoken by someone bashing on our door and didn't stop til we opened it only to go sorry wrong room this was at 7am unfortunately we left before open hours of the office or we would have asked for a partial refund on our stay

Really nice place. Roomy and great overnight place when on a road trip through the northern part of the north island.

Clean very good beds good location

The hosts Jennie and Peter were very approachable and knowledgeable. They went the extra mile to make me feel welcome and looked after. The motel is close to a New World and a Countdown, the Octagon Theatre which offers excellent theatre and dinner deals, one of Whangarei's favourite restaurants Suk Jai Thai restaurant, bus stops, and many cafes. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

Spacious and not too far to walk to the quay. The included breakfast was a very good value for money. Plenty of choices and good size serving. While initially it felt like Faulty Towers, the staff warm up and were friendly. They helped us with planning our route for our holiday. The bathroom and toilet could do with a little bit of upgrade. The place is looking a bit tired and could do with a little bit of touch up. Also, being in the main road, it's pretty noisy from the traffic. The weather was quite warm so we're unable to close the window which made sleeping difficult.
