We had stayed here a few years ago. Boy has it gone downhill. The room pictured is very misleading. We were deeply underwhelmed by almost everything. Tired room, almost no service. Loo was 18 inches from the bed, Plug in bathroom was broken, dusty, tried to complain but helpline was closed and didn’t take messages. Nice staff at breakfast but offer was not four star - the only preserves came from a jar of Sainsbury’s raspberry jam with the lid off and a large spoon. We were glad to leave and will not be returning.

This was truly a bizarre experience, but kind of fun. It was like visiting Hotel Transylvania or Fawlty Towers. The road up to the hotel is steep and sudden, and there is practically ZERO parking anywhere. Reception area is small, but nice views of the Bay. Décor looks like nothing much has changed since the 70s, and the rooms are for the most part not unkempt. Again, LOVELY sea views. There is also an option of dining in the well-reputed Bay View Restaurant: haughty service, but zesty and memorable plates on offer. In the end, I left feeling a bit conned and like someone pulled a subtle prank on me, but hey! I guess this is what Cornwall is all about!

Prior to arriving I was concerned regarding some of the previous negative reviews, but on arrival, we were greeted by the friendly and helpful staff who showed us to a room that overlooked the harbour. The view was lovely and so stunning to wake up to. A comfortable night's sleep in a beautiful bed, with tea and coffee making facilities available and a clean and spacious en suite. Breakfast was amazing. The chef cooked the eggs the way you wanted in front of you! We had Omelette along with bacon, sausage, and beans available too, as well as the usual pastries, cereals, and fruit, in the garden room, which again had spectacular views. Definitely a place to revisit.

The hotel has changed management and not for the better.
Breakfast was always a feast but is now cooked in the dining room and takes forever.
The front door does not close properly so the wind howls through the building rattling doors all night
